신의 성품에 참여하는 자들

 

우리 주님께서는 교회가 그분 안에서 발견하는 충만함과 풍성함을 세상에 반영하도록 계획하셨다. 우리는 하나님의 선물을 끊임없이 받고 있다.

그러므로, 우리는 바로 그 선물을 나누어 줌으로써 그리스도의 사랑과 은혜를 세상에 나타내야 한다. 온 하늘이 일어나서 사자들을 온 세상 방방곡곡으로 보내어 구속의 사업을 진척시키고 있는 동안,

살아계신 하나님의 교회 역시 그리스도와 동역하는 기관이 되어야 한다.

 

우리는 그분의 신비로운 몸의 지체들이다. 그분은 몸의 모든 지체들을 다스리는 머리이다.

그리스도께서 무한한 긍휼로써 친히 인간의 마음에 역사하셔서

너무도 놀라운 영적 변화를 일으키고 계시기 때문에, 천사들도 경탄과 기쁨으로 바라본다.

주님을 특징 지어 주는 바로 그 사랑이 그분을 진실하게 따르는 자들의 품성과 생애에 나타난다.

그리스도께서는 사람들이 세상에 있는 동안 신의 성품에 참여하는 자들이 되어

하나님을 찬양하기 위하여 그분의 영광을 반영할 뿐 아니라

하늘의 빛으로 세상의 흑암을 밝게 비취기를 바라신다.

그리하여, “너희는 세상에 빛이라”(마 5:14)고 하신 그리스도의 말씀이 완전히 성취될 것이다.

 

Partakers of Divine Nature

 

Our Lord designed that His church should reflect to the world the fullness and sufficiency that we find in Him. We are constantly receiving of God’s bounty, and by imparting of the same we are to represent to the world the love and beneficence of Christ. While all heaven is astir, dispatching messengers to every part of the earth to carry forward the work of redemption, the church of the living God are also to be colaborers with Christ.

We are members of His mystical body. He is the head, controlling all the members of the body. Jesus Himself, in His infinite mercy, is working on human hearts, effecting spiritual transformations so amazing that angels look on with astonishment and joy. The same unselfish love that characterizes the Master is seen in the character and life of His true followers. Christ expects that men will become partakers of His divine nature while in this world, thus not only reflecting His glory to the praise of God, but illumining the darkness of the world with the radiance of heaven. Thus will be fulfilled the words of Christ: “Ye are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14. Testimony Treasures 2, 327-8.
