그리스도에게서 배우는 자들

그리스도의 교훈은 확신과 경험이 어우러진 말씀의 표현이었으므로 그리스도에게서 배우는 자들은 하늘의 명령을 따르는 교사들이 된다. 말씀을 통하여 성화된 사람 자신이 하는 하나님의 말씀은 생명을 주는 능력 즉 말씀이 청중들의 마음에 매력적인 것이 되게 하고 그들에게 말씀이 살아있는 실재라는 것을 확신시켜 주는 능력을 갖고 있다. 사람이 진리를 사랑하며 받아들일 때에 그는 이것을 그의 태도와 어조에서 설득력 있게 드러낼 것이다. 그는 자신이 듣고, 보고, 만져보았던 생명의 말씀을 알게 하여 다른 이들로 그리스도의 지식을 통하여 그분과 교제하도록 할 것이다. 제단에서 취한 핀 숯이 닿은 입술에서 나오는 증언은 잘 받아들이는 마음에 진리가 되어 품성을 성화시킨다.

그리고 다른 이에게 빛을 주려고 하는 사람 자신이 축복을 받을 것이다. “복된 장맛비를 내리리라”, “남을 윤택하게 하는 자는 윤택하여지리라”(잠 11：25). 하나님께서는 우리의 도움 없이도 죄인을 구원하시는 당신의 목적을 이루실 수 있었다. 그러나 그리스도와 같은 품성을 계발시키기 위해서 우리는 그분의 사업을 분담해야 한다. 그분의 기쁨, 곧 그분의 희생을 통하여 구속받은 영혼들을 보는 기쁨에 참여하기 위하여 그들의 구속을 위한 그분의 사업에 참여해야 한다. – 시대의 소망, 142.

Those Who Learn of Jesus

The teaching of Christ was the ｅxpression of an inwrought conviction and experience, and those who learn of Him become teachers after the divine order. The word of God, spoken by one who is himself sanctified through it, has a life-giving power that makes it attractive to the hearers, and convicts them that it is a living reality. When one has received the truth in the love of it, he will make this manifest in the persuasion of his manner and the tones of his voice. He makes known that which he himself has heard, seen, and handled of the word of life, that others may have fellowship with him through the knowledge of Christ. His testimony, from lips touched with a live coal from off the altar, is truth to the receptive heart, and works sanctification upon the character.

And he who seeks to give light to others will himself be blessed. "There shall be showers of blessing." "He that watereth shall be watered also himself." Prov. 11:25. God could have reached His object in saving sinners without our aid; but in order for us to develop a character like Christ's, we must share in His work. In order to enter into His joy,--the joy of seeing souls redeemed by His sacrifice,--we must participate in His labors for their redemption. – Desires of Ages, 142.
