끈기있는 기도의 능력

 

야곱은 인내하고 결심하였기 때문에 승리하였다.

그의 경험은 끈질긴 기도의 능력을 증거한다.

우리가 힘 있는 기도와 불굴의 신앙의 교훈을 배워야 할 때는 바로 지금이다.

그리스도의 교회나 그리스도인 개인에게 온 가장 큰 승리들은

재능이나 교육이나 부나 인간의 호의로 얻어지는 것이 아니다.

 

그것들은 열렬하고 번민하는 믿음이 능력의 강한 팔에 매어 달릴 때에

하나님께서 함께 계시는 기도의 밀실에서 얻어지는 승리들이다.

 

Power in Importunate Prayer

 

Jacob prevailed because he was persevering and determined. His experience testifies to the power of importunate prayer. It is now that we are to learn this lesson of prevailing prayer, of unyielding faith. The greatest victories to the church of Christ or to the individual Christian, are not those that are gained by talent or education, by wealth, or the favor of men. They are those victories that are gained in the audience chamber with God, when earnest, agonizing faith lays hold upon the mighty arm of power.

Those who are unwilling to forsake every sin and to seek earnestly for God’s blessing, will not obtain it. But all who will lay hold of God’s promises as did Jacob, and be as earnest and persevering as he was, will succeed as he succeeded.—Patriarchs and Prophets, 203 (1890).
