사단의 반역과 하나님의 준비

죄 없는 하늘 거민들 중에서 기도(企圖)된 하나님의 율법을 전복(顚覆)하려는 사단의 처음 노력은,

한때 성공하는 것처럼 보였다. 엄청나게 많은 천사들이 그의 꼬임에 넘어갔다. 그러나

겉보기에 승리한 듯한 사단은 결국 패배와 손실을 당하고,

하나님과의 분리뿐만 아니라 하늘에서 추방당하는 결과를 낳게 되었다.

 

그 투쟁이 이 지구상에서 다시 일어났을 때에 사단은, 재차 표면상으로는 유리한 위치에 있었다.

사람들은 범죄로 인하여 그의 포로가 되어 있었고, 그들의 나라도 역시 대 반역자의 수중에 있었다.

이제 사단에게는 독립 국가를 건설해서, 하나님과 그분의 아들에게 도전할 길이 열린 것처럼 보였다.

그러나 구속의 경륜은 다시 사람들로 하여금 하나님과 화목할 수 있게 하고,

그분의 율법을 순종할 수 있도록 할 뿐 아니라,

이 지구와 그 거민들이 마침내 악한 자의 권세에서 구속함을 받을 수 있게 해주었다.

 

그리하여 사단은 또다시 참패를 당하였다.

그는 이러한 자기의 패배를 승리로 바꿔 보겠다는 희망을 가지고 재차 기만술을 쓰게 되었다.

그는 타락한 인간에게 반역을 선동하기 위하여, 하나님을

인간으로 하여금 당신의 율법을 범하도록 방임해 두시는 불의한 분으로 나타냈다.

간교한 유혹자는 “하나님은 그 결과가 어떠할 것을 아시면서 왜 사람들로 하여금 시험을 당하도록 놔두셔서 그들로 이같은 비참과 죽음에 이르게 하셨는가?”라고 말했다.

그리고 사단의 반역으로 인하여 하늘 왕이 치르게 된 놀랍고도 무서운 희생에도 불구하고, 사람들을 위하여

또 다른 고난을 허락하신 하나님의 오래 참으시는 긍휼을 아담의 자손들은 쉽게 잊어버렸다.

그리하여 그들은 유혹자의 말을 귀담아 듣고,

사단의 파괴적 능력에서 그들을 구원하실 수 있는 유일하신 그분께 불평하였다.

 

오늘날 하나님께 대하여 같은 반역적 불평을 되풀이하는 사람들이 많이 있다.

그들은 사람들로부터 선택의 자유를 빼앗는 것은 그들에게서 지적 존재로서의 특전을 박탈하는 것이며,

그들을 단순한 자동인형으로 만든다는 것을 알지 못한다.

의지를 강제하는 것은 하나님의 목적이 아니다.

사람은 자유로운 도덕적 행위자로 창조되었다.

다른 모든 세계의 거민들처럼, 그는 순종에 대한 시험을 받아야 하였다.

그러나 그는 악에 굴복하는 것이 불가피하게 되는 그런 위치에 결코 놓여 있지 않았다.

그가 대항할 수 없는 어떤 유혹이나 시련도 그에게 오도록 허락되지 않았다.

하나님께서는 인간이 사단과의 투쟁에서 결코 패배할 필요가 없도록 만반의 준비를 갖추어 놓으셨다.

The Rebellion of Satan and God’s Provision

 

The very first effort of Satan to overthrow God's law--undertaken among the sinless inhabitants of heaven--seemed for a time to be crowned with success. A vast number of the angels were seduced; but Satan's apparent triumph resulted in defeat and loss, separation from God, and banishment from heaven.

When the conflict was renewed upon the earth, Satan again won a seeming advantage. By transgression, man became his captive, and man's kingdom also was betrayed into the hands of the archrebel. Now the way seemed open for Satan to establish an independent kingdom, and to defy the authority of God and His Son. But the plan of salvation made it possible for man again to be brought into harmony with God, and to render obedience to His law, and for both man and the earth to be finally redeemed from the power of the wicked one.

Again Satan was defeated, and again he resorted to deception, in the hope of converting his defeat into a victory. To stir up rebellion in the fallen race, he now represented God as unjust in having permitted man to transgress His law. "Why," said the artful tempter, "when God knew what would be the result, did He permit man to be placed on trial, to sin, and bring in misery and death?" And the children of Adam, forgetful of the long-suffering mercy that had granted man another trial, regardless of the amazing, the awful sacrifice which his rebellion had cost the King of heaven, gave ear to the tempter, and murmured against the only Being who could save them from the destructive power of Satan.

There are thousands today echoing the same rebellious complaint against God. They do not see that to deprive man of the freedom of choice would be to rob him of his prerogative as an intelligent being, and make him a mere automaton. It is not God's purpose to coerce the will. Man was created a free moral agent. Like the inhabitants of all other worlds, he must be subjected to the test of obedience; but he is never brought into such a position that yielding to evil becomes a matter of necessity. No temptation or trial is permitted to come to him which he is unable to resist. God made such ample provision that man need never have been defeated in the conflict with Satan. - Patriarchs and Prophets, 331-2.
