역사의 열쇠

 “파수꾼이여 밤이 어떻게 되었느뇨

파수꾼이 가로되 아침이 오나니 밤도 오리라

네가 물으려거든 물으라 너희는 돌아올지니라” 사 21:11, 12. 

예언의 진리들은 모두 밀접한 관계가 있으므로

우리가 그 진리들을 연구하면 그것들은 실제적인 그리스도교의 진리로써 한 덩어리를 이룬다.
우리가 하는 모든 이야기는 우리가 하나님의 아들의 재림을 기다리고 있으며

그를 위해 일하고 기도하고 있음을 분명하게 드러내야 한다.

그분의 오심은 우리의 소망이다.

이 소망은 우리의 모든 말과 사업 그리고 모든 교제와 친분과 밀접히 관련되어 있어야 한다....

우리는 복된 소망 곧 우리 구주 예수 그리스도께서 영광스럽게 나타나실 것을 기다리고,

바라며, 기도하고 있는 순례자요 나그네들이다.

만일 우리가 이 사실을 믿고 우리의 실제 생활에 그것을 받아들인다면

이 믿음과 소망이 얼마나 활기찬 행동을 고취시키고

피차 뜨겁게 사랑하게 하고 하나님의 영광을 위해 주의 깊고도 거룩한 생애를 할 것인가.

그리하여 영원한 보상을 받기 위하여 우리와 세상 사이의 한계는 분명해질 것이다.

The Key to History

 Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come. Isaiah 21:11

The truths of prophecy are bound up together, and as we study them, they form a beautiful cluster of practical Christian truth.
All the discourses that we give are plainly to reveal that we are waiting, working, and praying for the coming of the Son of God.

His coming is our hope. This hope is to be bound up with all our words and works, with all our associations and relationships.... 

We are pilgrims and strangers who are waiting, hoping, and praying for that blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

If we believe this and bring it into our practical life, what vigorous action would this faith and hope inspire; what fervent love one for another; what careful holy living for the glory of God; and in our respect for the recompense of the reward, what distinct lines of demarcation would be evidenced between us and the world....
