박해는 교회를 정결케 함

번영은 신앙 고백자들을 양산하나, 역경은 교회에서 그들을 쓸어낸다.

각 영혼에게 시험이 다가올 때가 멀지 않다.

짐승의 표가 우리에게 강요될 것이다.

한걸음 한걸음씩 세상의 요구에 양보하고 세상의 습관에 순응해 온 자들은

조소와 모욕과 위협적인 투옥과 죽음을 당하기보다는

오히려 권력에 굴복하는 것이 어려운 문제가 아님을 알게 될 것이다.

싸움은 하나님의 계명과 사람의 계명 사이에서 전개된다.

이 때에 교회내에서 황금과 불순물이 분리될 것이다.

핍박이 없을 때에 우리 대열 속으로 들어와서 건전하게 보이고

저들의 그리스도교 사상이 전혀 의심할 여지가 없는 것처럼 보이는 자들도

핍박이 일어날 때에 우리에게서 떨어져 나갈 것이다.

 하나님의 율법이 무효화될 때에

교회는 불 같은 시련으로 체질을 당하게 될 것이며

우리가 예상하고 있는 것보다 더 큰 비율의 사람들이 미혹케 하는 영과 귀신의 가르침에 귀를 기울일 것이다.

Persecution Cleanses the Church

 Prosperity multiplies a mass of professors. Adversity purges them out of the church.

 The time is not far distant when the test will come to every soul. The mark of the beast will be urged upon us.

Those who have step by step yielded to worldly demands and conformed to worldly customs will not find it a hard matter to yield to the powers that be, rather than subject themselves to derision, insult, threatened imprisonment, and death.

The contest is between the commandments of God and the commandments of men. In this time the gold will be separated from the dross in the church.

 In the absence of the persecution there have drifted into our ranks men who appear sound and their Christianity unquestionable, but who, if persecution should arise, would go out from us.

 When the law of God is made void the church will be sifted by fiery trials, and a larger proportion than we now anticipate will give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
