즐거움과 기쁨의 샘

만일 그대가 모든 일에 있어서 행복과 평안을 누리고 싶다면, 하나님의 영광과 관계 있는 일들을 해야만 한다. 만일 그대가 마음의 평안을 누리고 싶다면, 그리스도의 생애를 본받고자 열심히 노력해야 할 것이다.

그리하면 세속적 불성실과 교만으로 인한 쾌락을 얻으려고 노력할 필요도 없고 명랑한 체 할 필요가 없다.

그대가 올바르게 행한다면 그릇되게 행했을 때 맛보지 못한 평강과 행복을 누릴 수 있다.

예수님께서는 인간으로서 유년기, 소년기, 그리고 청년기를 보내셨으므로

모든 사람들을 동정하실 수 있으셨으며 청소년들에게 모본을 남겨 두실 수 있으셨다.

그분께서는 소년들의 연약함과 그들이 당할 유혹에 대해서도 잘 알고 계셨다.

또 당신을 믿는 영혼을 위하여 즐거움과 기쁨의 샘을 당신의 사랑 안에서 파 놓으셨다.

그리스도를 영화롭게 하고 그분의 모본을 따를 때 청소년들은 참 행복을 누릴 수 있다.

그들은 영혼 구원이라는 위대한 사업에 대하여 예수 그리스도와 함께 일해야 하는 책임을 느껴야 할 것이다.

만일 청년들이 하나님 앞에서 자신들의 책임을 느낀다면,

그들은 시시하고 이기적이며 불결한 모든 것들을 초월하게 될 것이다.

그런 청년들에게 삶이란 매우 중요한 것이 될 것이다.

그들은 삶을 영위하는 데에 위대하고 영광스런 그 무엇을 가지고 있음을 깨닫게 된다.

이것은 젊은이들에게 그들의 신성한 본이 되는 분과 마찬가지로

모든 부담과 낙담과 삶의 어려움 속에서도 진지하고 명랑하고 강하게 만들어 줄 수 있는 영향을 미칠 것이다.

그분의 모본을 본받음으로 그대는, 그분처럼 지혜가 더해가고 하나님과 사람들의 사랑을 받게 될 것이다.

A Fountain of Pleasure and Joy

If you would find happiness and peace in all you do, you must do everything in reference to the glory of God. If you would have peace in your hearts, you must seek earnestly to imitate the life of Christ.

Then there will be no need of affecting cheerfulness, or of your seeking for pleasure in the indulgence of pride and the frivolities of the world. You will have a serenity and happiness in rightdoing that you can never realize in a course of wrong.

Jesus took human nature, passing through infancy, childhood, and youth, that He might know how to sympathize with all, and leave an example for all children and youth. He is acquainted with the temptations and weaknesses of children.

He has, in His love, opened the fountain of pleasure and joy for the soul that trusts in Him. By seeking to honor Christ and to follow His example, children and youth can be truly happy. They may feel their accountability to labor with Jesus Christ in the great plan of saving souls.

If youth will feel their responsibility before God, they will be elevated above everything that is mean, selfish, and impure. Life to such will be full of importance. They will realize that they have something great and glorious to live for. This will have an influence upon youth to make them earnest, cheerful, and strong under all the burdens, discouragements, and difficulties of life, as was their divine Pattern....

The consciousness that you are doing those things which God can approve will make you strong in His strength; and by copying the Pattern, you may, like Him, increase in wisdom, and in favor with God and man.
