마음에 영감을 불어넣음

하나님의 말씀 가운데서 마음은 가장 깊은 사상과 가장 숭고한 포부의 주제를 발견하게 된다.

여기서 우리는 부조들과 선지자들과 교통할 수 있으며,

영원하신 분께서 인류에게 말씀하시는 음성을 들을 수 있다.

여기서 우리는 하늘의 폐하께서 당신 자신을 낮추시사 우리의 대속주와 보증인이 되셨고,

단독으로 흑암의 권세들과 겨루사 우리 인간을 위하여 승리를 얻으신 것을 볼 수 있다.

이러한 주제들에 대한 경건한 묵상은 틀림없이

심령을 부드럽게 하고 순결하게 하며 고귀하게 하는 동시에 새로운 힘과 기운을 정신에 불어넣어 줄 것이다.

우리가 성경을 존중하는 까닭은 무엇보다도 그 가운데서 하나님의 뜻이 인간에게 나타났기 때문이다.

성경 가운데서 우리는 창조의 목적과 그 목적을 달성할 수 있는 방법들을 배우게 된다.
우리는 현재의 생애를 현명하게 개선하는 방법과 내세를 확보하는 방법을 배우게 된다.

어떤 다른 책도 마음의 의문들이나 심령의 갈망을 만족시킬 수 없다.

하나님의 말씀에 대한 지식을 얻고 그 말씀에 유의함으로 말미암아 사람들은 타락의 심연(深淵)에서 빠져나와 하나님의 아들들, 죄 없는 천사들의 친구가 된다.

Inspires the Mind

In the Word of God the mind finds subjects for the deepest thought, the loftiest aspirations. Here we may hold communion with patriarchs and prophets and listen to the voice of the Eternal as He speaks with men.

Here we behold the Majesty of heaven as He humbled Himself to become our substitute and surety, to cope single-handed with the powers of darkness, and to gain the victory in our behalf.

A reverent contemplation of such themes as these cannot fail to soften, purify, and ennoble the heart, and at the same time to inspire the mind with new strength and vigor.

But that which above all other considerations should lead us to prize the Bible is that in it is revealed to men the will of God. Here we learn the object of our creation and the means by which that object may be attained.

We learn how to improve wisely the present life and how to secure the future life. No other book can satisfy the questionings of the mind or the cravings of the heart.

By obtaining a knowledge of God’s Word and giving heed thereto, men may rise from the lowest depths of degradation to become the sons of God, the associates of sinless angels.
