몸과 혼과 마음을 사로잡는 세력과 싸움

이전에는 결코 본 적이 없었던 격렬함이 온 세상을 휘어잡고 있다.

오락, 돈 모으는 일, 권력다툼, 생존을 위한 투쟁 가운데는 몸과 마음과 혼을 몰두케 만드는 무서운 힘이 있다.

이와 같은 광란적인 돌진과 분망함의 와중에 하나님께서 말씀하시고 계신다.

그분은 우리에게 그것들과 따로 떨어져 그분과 교통하라고 명하신다. 

“너희는 가만히 있어 내가 하나님 됨을 알지어다”(시 46: 10)....

사람은 하늘의 도구로 사용되는 존재들의 손 노릇을 한다.

왜냐하면 하늘의 천사들은 실제적인 봉사에 있어서 사람의 손을 사용하기 때문이다. 

손으로 돕는 조력자들로서

사람은 그 지식을 실생활에서 실천해야 하고, 하늘의 존재들의 기능들을 사용해야 한다.

전능한 이들 권세들과 연합함으로써 우리는 그들의 더 높은 교육과 경험을 통해서 유익을 얻는다. 

그같이 하여 우리가 신의 성품에 참여한 자, 우리의 생활에서 이기심을 제거한 사람이 될 때,

서로를 도울 수 있도록 특별한 재능들이 우리에게 임할 것이다.

하늘은 이런 방식으로 구원하는 능력을 행사한다.

Contending With a Force That Captivates Body, Soul, and Mind

An intensity such as never before was seen is taking possession of the world. In amusement, in moneymaking, in the contest for power, in the very struggle for existence, there is a terrible force that engrosses body and mind and soul. 

In the midst of this maddening rush, God is speaking. He bids us come apart and commune with Him. “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10)....

Human agencies are the hands of heavenly instrumentalities, for heavenly angels employ human hands in practical ministry. 

Human agencies as hand helpers are to work out the knowledge and use the facilities of heavenly beings. 

By uniting with these powers that are omnipotent, we are benefited by their higher education and experience. 

Thus as we become partakers of the divine nature and separate selfishness from our lives, special talents for helping one another are granted us. This is Heaven’s way of administering saving power.
