신앙적인 체험은 오직 투쟁을 통해서만 얻을 수 있다

이 세상에서의 삶은 투쟁이며,

우리는 결코 잠자지 않는 원수, 우리의 마음을 파괴시키고 우리를 위해 그분의 생명을 주신 귀하신 구주로부터 우리를 꾀어내기 위해 끊임없이 지켜보고 있는 원수가 있다.

주께서는 영혼에게 평강을 준비시키려고 쟁투들을 허락하신다.

우리 청소년들은 열과 성을 다하여 그들에게 맡겨진 의무를 감당해야 하며,

이렇게 하면 성공이 보장될 것이다. 

인생의 현세적인 의무들을 성공적으로 수행해 본 일이 없는 청소년들은

더 높은 의무들을 수행할 준비 또한 되어 있지 않을 것이다. 

신앙적인 체험은 오직 투쟁, 실망, 엄격한 자기 훈련 및 열렬한 기도를 통해서만 얻을 수 있다. 

천국으로 나아가는 계단은 반드시 한 번에 하나씩 밟아야 하며,

전진하는 계단마다 다음 계단을 위한 힘을 줄 것이다.

A Religious Experience Is Gained only Through Conflict

This life is a conflict, and we have a foe who never sleeps, who is watching constantly to destroy our minds and lure us away from our precious Saviour, who has given His life for us.

The Lord permits conflicts to prepare the soul for peace.

With energy and fidelity our youth should meet the demands upon them, and this will be a guarantee of success. 

Young men who have never made a success in the temporal duties of life will be equally unprepared to engage in the higher duties. 

A religious experience is gained only through conflict, through disappointment, through severe discipline of self, through earnest prayer. 

The steps to heaven must be taken one at a time, and every advance step gives strength for the next.
