하늘로 가는 문은 좁고 불편함

하늘로 가는 우리들의 길은 어떠한가?

모든 유혹적인 편의가 제공되는 그러한 길인가? 

아니다. 그 길은 분명히 좁고 불편한 길이다.

그 길은 투쟁과 시련의 길이며 환란과 고통의 길이다. 

우리 대장이신 예수 그리스도께서는 우리들이 싸워야 할 전쟁에 관하여 아무것도 숨겨놓지 않으셨다.

주님께서는 우리들 앞에 지도를 펴 놓으시고 가는 길을 보여 주신다. 

주님께서는 “좁은 문으로 들어가기를 힘쓰라

내가 너희에게 이르노니 들어가기를 구하여도 못하는 자가 많으리라” (눅 13:24) 고 말씀하셨다. 

또 주님께서는 “좁은 문으로 들어가라

멸망으로 인도하는 문은 크고 그 길이 넓어 그리로 들어가는 자가 많고

생명으로 인도하는 문은 좁고 길이 협착하여 찾는 이가 적음이니라” (마 7:13). 

“세상에서는 너희가 환란을 당하나 담대하라” (요 16:33)고 말씀하셨다. 

사도는 그리스도의 말씀에 호응하여

“우리가 하나님 나라에 들어가려면 많은 환란을 겪어야 할 것이라” (행 14:22) 고 말하였다. 

이러한 말씀들을 마음의 눈으로 바라볼 때 실망적인 상황이라고 할 수 있겠는가?

The Path to Heaven Narrow and Inconvenient

What is our path to heaven? Is it a road with every inviting convenience? 

No, it is a path that is narrow and apparently inconvenient; it is a path of conflict, of trial, of tribulation and suffering. 

Our Captain, Jesus Christ, has hid nothing from us in regard to the battles we are to fight. He opens the map before us and shows us the way. 

“Strive,” He says, “to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able” (Luke 13:24). 

“Wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat” (Matthew 7:13). 

“In the world ye shall have tribulation” (John 16:33). 

The apostle echoes the words of Christ, “We must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom” (Acts 14:22). 

Well, is it the discouraging aspect we are to keep before the mind’s eye?
