건강 개혁의 원칙들을 가르침

우리는 한 백성으로서 건강 개혁의 원칙들을 알려주는 사업을 위임받았다.

식생활의 문제가 그들의 전도 사업에 포함되어야 할만큼 그렇게 중요하지는 않다고 생각하는 사람들이

더러 있다. 그러나 그런 사람들은 큰 실수를 범하고 있다.

하나님의 말씀은 선언한다.

“그런즉 너희가 먹든지 마시든지 무엇을 하든지 다 하나님의 영광을 위하여 하라” (고전 10:31).

절제의 문제는 모든 방면에서 구원의 사업에 중요한 위치를 차지한다....

요리 학교들이 개최되어야 한다.

백성들은 건강한 음식을 마련하는 법을 배워야 한다.

그들은 불건강한 음식물을 버릴 필요성을 배워야 한다.

그러나 우리는 궁핍한 식생활을 결코 옹호해서는 안 된다. 

차와 커피와 육류 식품이 없이 건전하고 영양이 좋은 식생활을 할 수가 있다.

건강하면서도 맛이 좋은 음식을 마련하는 법을 사람들에게 가르치는 사업은 가장 중요한 사업이다. 

건강 개혁 사업은 세상에서 고통을 감소시키고 주님의 교회를 순결하게 하기 위한 그분의 수단이다.

사람들이 육체적·영적 건강을 회복하는 일에 일꾼의 주가 되시는 분과 협력함으로써

하나님의 도우시는 손으로 활동할 수 있다는 사실을 그들에게 가르쳐 주라. 

이 사업은 하늘의 표를 간직하고 있으므로 다른 귀중한 진리들이 들어갈 문을 열어줄 것이다.

이 사업을 지혜롭게 담당할 모든 사람에게는 일할 여지가 있다. 

건강 개혁의 사업을 최전방에 두라는 것이 내가 증거하도록 지시를 받은 기별이다.

그 가치를 너무도 명백하게 보여주므로 그것에 대한 광범위한 필요성을 느낄 수 있게 하라. 

모든 해로운 음식물과 음료수를 끊어버리는 것이 참 신앙의 열매이다.

철저하게 회개한 자는 모든 해로운 습관과 식욕을 버릴 것이다.

그는 완전한 절제에 의하여 건강을 파괴시키는 방종에 대한 욕망을 극복할 것이다.

Teaching the Principles of Health Reform

As a people we have been given the work of making known the principles of health reform. There are some who think that the question of diet is not of sufficient importance to be included in their evangelistic work. But such make a great mistake. 

God’s word declares: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31. The subject of temperance, in all its bearings, has an important place in the work of salvation….

Cooking schools are to be held. The people are to be taught how to prepare wholesome food. They are to be shown the need of discarding unhealthful foods. But we should never advocate a starvation diet. 

It is possible to have a wholesome, nutritious diet without the use of tea, coffee, and flesh food. The work of teaching the people how to prepare a dietary that is at once wholesome and appetizing is of the utmost importance.

The work of health reform is the Lord’s means for lessening suffering in our world and for purifying His church. Teach the people that they can act as God’s helping hand by co-operating with the Master Worker in restoring physical and spiritual health. 

This work bears the signature of heaven and will open doors for the entrance of other precious truths. There is room for all to labor who will take hold of this work intelligently. 

Keep the work of health reform to the front is the message I am instructed to bear. Show so plainly its value that a widespread need for it will be felt. 

Abstinence from all hurtful food and drink is the fruit of true religion. He who is thoroughly converted will abandon every injurious habit and appetite. By total abstinence he will overcome his desire for health-destroying indulgences.
