위대한 의료 선교사이신 그리스도께서는 우리의 모본이시다.

그분에 관해서는 “예수께서 온 갈릴리에 두루 다니사 저희 회당에서 가르치시며 천국 복음을 전파하시며

백성 중에 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치시니” (마 4:23) 라고 기록되어 있다.

그분께서는 병자들을 고치시고 복음을 전하셨다.

그분의 봉사에는 치료와 가르침이 밀접히 연결되었다.

오늘날에도 그것들이 분리되어서는 안 된다...

우리의 주변에는 봉사를 위한 문이 사방에 열려 있다.

우리는 이웃과 친해져서 그들을 그리스도께로 인도해야 한다.

우리가 그렇게 할 때 그분께서는 그 일을 인정하시고 우리와 협력하실 것이다. 

그리스도께서 활동하신 도성의 거민들은

흔히 그분께서 그들과 함께 거하시면서 그들 사이에서 계속해서 일하기를 원하셨다.

그러나 그분께서는 당신이 제시해야 할 진리를 듣지 못한 도시로 가야 한다고 그들에게 말씀하셨다.

한 곳에서 기별을 전하신 후에 그분께서는 그 기별 위에 서도록 하시고 다른 곳으로 가셨다. 

그분의 사업을 맡은 자들은 오늘날 그분의 활동 방법을 따라야 한다.

우리는 이곳 저곳으로 다니면서 기별을 전해야 한다.

한 곳에서 진리를 선포하면 즉시 우리는 다른 곳들에 경고하기 위하여 가야 한다...

교역자들, 의료 복음 선교사들이 지금 필요하다.

그대들은 준비하는 데 여러 해를 보낼 수 없다.

지금 진리를 향해 열려 있는 문들이 미구에 영원히 닫힐 것이다.

지금 기별을 가지고 가라.

그대들 앞에 지금 열려 있는 일터를 원수가 장악할 때까지 기다리지 말라.

적은 무리들이 그리스도께서 그분의 제자들에게 정해주신 사업을 하기 위해 나가야 한다. 

그들은 전도자로 일을 하면서 우리의 출판물들을 나누어주고,

만나는 자들에게 진리에 관하여 이야기해야 한다.

그들은 병자들을 위하여 기도하고,

약품이 아닌 천연의 치료제를 가지고 그들의 필요를 따라 봉사하고,

건강을 회복하고 질병을 피하는 법을 그들에게 가르쳐야 한다.

Christ, the great Medical Missionary, is our example

Christ, the great Medical Missionary, is our example. Of Him it is written that He “went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.” Matthew 4:23. He healed the sick and preached the gospel. In His service, healing and teaching were linked closely together. Today they are not to be separated... 

All around us are doors open for service. We should become acquainted with our neighbors and seek to draw them to Christ. As we do this, He will approve and cooperate with us. 

Often the inhabitants of a city where Christ labored wished Him to stay with them and continue to work among them. But He would tell them that He must go to cities that had not heard the truths that He had to present. After He had given the truth to those in one place He left them to build upon what He had given them, while He went to another place. 

His methods of labor are to be followed today by those to whom He has left His work. We are to go from place to place, carrying the message. As soon as the truth has been proclaimed in one place, we are to go to warn others....

Workers—gospel medical missionaries—are needed now. You cannot afford to spend years in preparation. Soon doors now open to the truth will be forever closed. Carry the message now. Do not wait, allowing the enemy to take possession of the fields now open before you. Let little companies go forth to do the work to which Christ appointed His disciples. 

Let them labor as evangelists, scattering our publications and talking of the truth to those they meet. Let them pray for the sick, ministering to their necessities, not with drugs, but with nature’s remedies, and teaching them how to regain health and avoid disease.
