유혹당할 때의 기도의 능력

만일, 청년들이 깨어

사탄의 유혹을 대항하기 위하여 하나님께로 오는 능력을 받을 필요를 깊이 느낄 수만 있다면,

고귀한 승리는 그들의 것이 될 것이며 그리스도인 싸움에서 귀중한 경험을 얻게 될 것이다. 

청년들 중에서는

“근신하라 깨어라 너희 대적 마귀가 우는 사자같이 두루 다니며 삼킬 자를 찾나니

너희는 믿음을 굳게 하여 저를 대적하라”(벧전 5:8, 9)고 한 영감받은 사도 베드로의 권면을 생각하는 자가

얼마나 적은가? 

요한은 그에게 주어진 이상 가운데서 인간에게 역사하는 사탄의 능력을 보고,

“땅과 바다는 화 있을진저

이는 마귀가 자기의 때가 얼마 못 된 줄을 알므로 크게 분내어 너희에게 내려갔음이라”고 외쳤다. (계 12:12).

사랑하는 청년들이여,

유혹에 빠지지 않도록 기도할 때, 그대들의 할 일이 기도로만 끝나지 않음을 기억하라. 
유혹을 대항함으로써 그대들은 할 수 있는 대로 그대들 자신의 기도에 반응해야 하며,

그대들의 혼자 힘으로 할 수 없는 것들은 예수께서 그대들을 위하여 해 주시도록 그분께 맡겨야 한다. 

그대들은 원수가 유혹하지 못하도록 그대들의 말과 행동을 아무리 조심해도 지나칠 수 없다. 
우리 청년들 중 많은 사람들이 그들에게 주어진 경고와 책망을 부주의하게 무시함으로써

사탄이 들어오도록 문을 넓게 연다. 

하나님의 말씀을 우리의 안내자로 삼고 예수님을 우리의 하늘 교사로 모시면,

우리는 그분의 요구와 사탄의 책략에 무지하거나 그의 유혹에 정복당할 필요가 없다. 
우리가 성령에 의해 지도되도록 우리 자신을 온전히 바치면,

하나님의 뜻에 순종하는 일이 불유쾌한 일이 되지 않을 것이다.

The Power of Prayer in Temptation

If the youth could only awake to deeply feel their need of strength from God to resist the temptations of Satan, precious victories would be theirs, and they would obtain a valuable experience in the Christian warfare. 

How few of the young think of the exhortation of the inspired apostle Peter: 
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith.” 1 Peter 5:8, 9. 

In the vision given to John he saw the power of Satan over men and exclaimed: 
“Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Revelation 12:12.

While you pray, dear youth, that you may not be led into temptation, remember that your work does not end with the prayer. 
You must then answer your own prayer as far as possible by resisting temptation, and leave that which you cannot do for yourselves for Jesus to do for you. 

You cannot be too guarded in your words and in your deportment, 
lest you invite the enemy to tempt you. 
Many of our youth, by their careless disregard of the warnings and reproofs given them, open the door wide for Satan to enter. 

With God’s word for our guide and Jesus as our heavenly Teacher we need not be ignorant of His requirements or of Satan’s devices and be overcome by his temptations. 
It will be no unpleasant task to be obedient to the will of God when we yield ourselves fully to be directed by His Spirit.
