죽은 자를 사칭함

악한 천사들이 성도나 죄인이나 간에 죽은 자의 모습으로 변장하여

인간의 눈에 보이도록 나타나는 것은 어려운 일이 아니다. 
이러한 출현은 더욱 빈번해질 것이며,

우리가 시대의 종말에 가까이 이를수록 그 기만의 술법은 더욱 현저하게 될 것이다.

그것은 그들의 사랑하는 사람들을 무덤 속에 장사한 자들의 동정심을 붙잡기 위하여 고안된,

사탄의 가장 성공적이고도 매력적인 속임수이다. 
악한 천사들은 사랑하는 자들의 모습으로 나타나서 그들의 생애와 관련된 사건들을 이야기하고

그들이 살아있을 때에 했던 행동들을 한다. 

이와 같은 방법으로 그들은 그들의 죽은 친구들이 천사가 되어 그들을 굽어보며 그들과 대화를 나눈다고

사람들로 믿게 한다. 
죽은 친구의 모습으로 변장한 이 악한 천사들은 일종의 우상숭배라고 할 만큼 존중되며,

그들의 말은 하나님의 말씀보다도 더 무게를 지닌다.

그[사탄]는 죽은 친구와 같은 모습으로 사람들 앞에 나타나는 능력이 있다. 
그 모조품은 완전하다. 똑같은 모습, 말씨, 음성을 놀랍도록 명확하게 재생해 낸다. … 

많은 사람들은 사랑하는 친척이나 친구들의 모양으로 나타나서 가장 위험한 이단설을 주장하는 악마의 영들과 대결하게 될 것이다. 
이 영들은 가장 부드러운 우리의 동정심에 호소하며, 그들의 주장을 지지하기 위하여 이적들을 행할 것이다.

Personation of the Dead

It is not difficult for the evil angels to represent both saints and sinners who have died, and make these representations visible to human eyes. 
These manifestations will be more frequent, and developments of a more startling character will appear as we near the close of time.

It is Satan’s most successful and fascinating delusion—one calculated to take hold of the sympathies of those who have laid their loved ones in the grave. 
Evil angels come in the form of those loved ones and relate incidents connected with their lives, and perform acts which they performed while living. 

In this way they lead persons to believe that their dead friends are angels, hovering over them and communicating with them. 
These evil angels, who assume to be the deceased friends, are regarded with a certain idolatry, and with many their word has greater weight than the Word of God.

He [Satan] has power to bring before men the appearance of their departed friends. 
The counterfeit is perfect; the familiar look, the words, the tone, are reproduced with marvelous distinctness....

Many will be confronted by the spirits of devils personating beloved relatives or friends and declaring the most dangerous heresies.
These visitants will appeal to our tenderest sympathies and will work miracles to sustain their pretensions.
