사랑의 거룩한 감화

하나님은 온 우주의 생명과 빛과 기쁨의 근원이시다.

태양에서 발하는 광선과 같이, 샘에서 흘러내리는 개천 물과 같이,

모든 축복이 하나님께로부터 나와서 그의 온 피조물에게 이르는 것이다.

그러므로 하나님의 생명이 사람의 마음 안에 있게 되면

그것이 넘쳐흘러서 다른 사람에게 사랑과 축복을 주게 될 것이다.

우리 구주의 기쁨은 타락한 인류를 향상시켜서 구원하시는 데 있었다.

그는 이 기쁨을 인하여 자기의 생명을 아끼지 아니하시고

십자가의 고난을 참으사 부끄러움을 개의치 아니하셨다. 

이와 같이 천사들도 항상 남의 행복을 위한 일에 종사하고 있다. 이것이 저들의 기쁨이다.

품격과 계급이 열등한 가련한 자들을 위하여 봉사하는 일은

이기심이 있는 자들이 비천한 봉사로 여기는 바이나 그것이 죄가 없는 천사들이 하는 일이다. 

그리스도의 자아 희생적 사랑의 정신은 온 하늘에 충만한 정신이니 그것이 곧 하늘의 행복의 요소이다.

이 정신은 그리스도를 따르는 자들이 가져야 할 정신이요, 또 이 일은 그들이 하여야 할 일이다.

그리스도의 사랑이 마음속에 있으면 마치 좋은 향기 같아서 그것을 숨길 수 없는 것이다.

이 사랑의 거룩한 감화는 우리가 접촉하는 모든 사람들이 받게 될 것이다.

우리 마음속에 있는 그리스도의 정신은 마치 사막 가운데 있는 샘과 같이 흘러서

모든 사람을 시원케 할 뿐 아니라 죽어가는 자들에게 생명수를 마시고자 하는 마음이 간절하게 만든다.

The Holy Influence of Love

God is the source of life and light and joy to the universe. Like rays of light from the sun, like the streams of water bursting from a living spring, blessings flow out from Him to all His creatures. And wherever the life of God is in the hearts of men, it will flow out to others in love and blessing.

Our Saviour’s joy was in the uplifting and redemption of fallen men. For this He counted not His life dear unto Himself, but endured the cross, despising the shame. 

So angels are ever engaged in working for the happiness of others. This is their joy. That which selfish hearts would regard as humiliating service, ministering to those who are wretched and in every way inferior in character and rank, is the work of sinless angels. 

The spirit of Christ’s self-sacrificing love is the spirit that pervades heaven and is the very essence of its bliss. This is the spirit that Christ’s followers will possess, the work that they will do.

When the love of Christ is enshrined in the heart, like sweet fragrance it cannot be hidden. Its holy influence will be felt by all with whom we come in contact. The spirit of Christ in the heart is like a spring in the desert, flowing to refresh all and making those who are ready to perish, eager to drink of the water of life.
