기도의 능력과 효력

예수님께서는 어떤 큰 시련이나 어떤 중요한 사업을 위하여 준비하실 때에

한적한 산에 들어가셔서 당신의 아버지께 기도하심으로 밤을 지새곤 하셨다.

열 두 사도의 안수, 산상설교, 변화산의 경험, 심판정과 십자가의 고통, 부활의 영광,

이 모든 일들이 있기 전에 하룻밤의 기도가 먼저 있었다.

우리도 또한 영적으로 새 힘을 얻기 위하여 명상하고 기도하는 시간을 별도로 가져야 한다.

우리는 기도의 능력과 효력의 가치를 마땅히 분별해야 할 만큼 분별하지 못하고 있다.

기도와 믿음은 세상의 어떤 능력이 성취할 수 없는 것을 이룰 수 있다.

우리는 모든 점에 있어서 똑 같은 위치에 두 번 처하는 일이 드물다.

우리는 끊임없이 새로운 장면과 새로운 시험을 통과하게 되는데,
여기에 있어서 과거의 경험은 충분한 지도역할을 하지 못한다.

우리는 하나님께로부터 계속해서 빛을 받아야 한다.

The Power and Efficacy of Prayer

Jesus, when preparing for some great trial or some important work, would
resort to the solitude of the mountains and spend the night in prayer to
His Father.

A night of prayer preceded the ordination of the apostles and the Sermon on
the Mount, the transfiguration, the agony of the judgment hall and the
cross, and the resurrection glory.

We, too, must have times set apart for meditation and prayer and for
receiving spiritual refreshing.

We do not value the power and efficacy of prayer as we should. Prayer and
faith will do what no power on earth can accomplish.

We are seldom, in all respects, placed in the same position twice. We
continually have new scenes and new trials to pass through, where past
experience cannot be a sufficient guide. We must have the continual light
that comes from God.
