주님의 날이 가까이 이름

우리는 마지막 때에 가까이 이르렀다.

나는 하나님의 보복의 심판이 이 땅에 이미 내리고 있는 것을 보았다. 

주님께서는 미구에 일어나려는 사건에 관하여 우리에게 경고하셨다.

하나님의 말씀에서 빛이 비치고 있다. 

그러나, 어두움이 땅을 덮고 캄캄함이 만민을 가리고 있다.

“저희가 평안하다, 안전하다 할 그 때에 … 멸망이 홀연히 저희에게 이르리니 결단코 피하지 못하리라.” 

이 무서운 흑암의 원인을 알아내어 사람들이 그처럼 큰 미혹을 스스로 초래하는 그 길을 막아 주는 것이

우리의 의무이다.

 하나님께서는 당신의 뜻을 배워서 순종할 수 있는 기회를 세상에 주셨다.

그분께서는 당신의 말씀을 통하여 진리의 빛을 사람들에게 주셨다.

 그분은 그들에게 경고와 권면과 훈계의 말씀을 주셨다.

 그러나, 그분의 음성을 순종하는 자는 별로 없다.

유대 민족처럼 대다수의 사람들, 심지어 그리스도인이라고 공언하는 자들까지도,

그들의 우월한 이점(利点)은 자랑하고 있지만 그 큰 축복에 대하여는 하나님께 보답하지 않는다.

 무한한 자비로써 마지막 경고의 기별이 세상에 전파되어,

그리스도께서 문 앞에 서 계심이 알려지고, 하나님의 범해진 율법에 주의를 집중시키고 있다

 

그러나, 홍수 전의 사람들이 조소로써 노아의 경고를 거절했던 것처럼,

쾌락을 사랑하는 오늘날의 사람들은 하나님의 충성된 종들의 기별을 거절할 것이다.

하나님의 율법을 범한 자들에게 그분의 진노가 바야흐로 내리려 하고 있는 때에,

세상은 변함없이 그대로 돌아가고, 세속적 사업과 쾌락에 몰두하는 일은 여전히 계속되고 있다.

The Day of the Lord at Hand

We are near the close of time. I have been shown that the retributive judgments of God are already in the land. 

The Lord has given us warning of the events about to take place. Light is shining from His word; yet darkness covers the earth, and gross darkness the people. “When they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them; ... and they shall not escape.”   

It is our duty to inquire the cause of this terrible darkness, that we may shun the course by which men have brought upon themselves so great delusion. God has given the world an opportunity to learn and to obey His will. He has given them, in His word, the light of truth; He has sent them warning, counsel, and admonition; but few will obey His voice. 

Like the Jewish nation, the majority, even of professed Christians, pride themselves on their superior advantages, but make no returns to God for these great blessings. In infinite mercy a last warning message has been sent to the world, announcing that Christ is at the door and calling attention to God’s broken law. But as the antediluvians rejected with scorn the warning of Noah, so will the pleasure lovers of today reject the message of God’s faithful servants. 

The world pursues its unvarying round, absorbed as ever in its business and its pleasures, while the wrath of God is about to be visited on the transgressors of His law.
