영속적인 평안

영속적인 평안

 

세속적인 근원에서 나온 행복은 그 행복을 이루어 주는 다양한 환경과 마찬가지로 변하기 쉽다.

그러나 그리스도의 평안은 변하지 않는 영속적인 평안이다.

그것은 생애의 어떤 환경에 의해 좌우되는 것이 아니며,

세상 재물의 양이나 세상 친구의 수에 의해 결정이 되는 것도 아니다.

그리스도는 생명수의 근원이시므로, 그분께로부터 얻은 행복은 결코 사라지지 않는다.

 

각 사람의 경험은 “오직 악인은 능히 안정치 못하고…요동하는 바다와 같으니라

내 하나님의 말씀에 악인에게는 평강이 없다 하셨느니라” (사 57:20, 21)는

성경 말씀의 진리를 증거한다.

 

우리의 평화를 파괴한 것은 죄다.

자아가 정복되지 않을 때 우리는 쉼을 얻을 수 없다.

인간의 힘으로는 마음을 지배하는 격정을 다스릴 수 없다.

제자들이 성난 폭풍을 잔잔하게 하는 데 무력하였던 것처럼 우리도 이점에는 무력하다. 

그러나 갈릴리 바다의 큰 물결을 향하여 잔잔하라고 말씀하신 예수께서는

각 사람에게 평안하라고 말씀하신다.

태풍이 아무리 격렬할지라도

“주여 구원하소서” 하고 부르짖으면서 예수께 돌아오는 자들은 구원을 얻을 것이다.

사람을 하나님과 화목시키는 그의 은혜가 인간의 격정의 분란을 잔잔하게 하는 바

그의 사랑 안에서 마음은 평안함을 얻는다.

Abiding Peace

Happiness drawn from earthly sources is as changeable as varying circumstances can make it; but the peace of Christ is a constant and abiding peace. It does not depend upon any circumstances in life, on the amount of worldly goods, or the number of earthly friends. Christ is the fountain of living water, and happiness drawn from Him can never fail.
Every man’s experience testifies to the truth of the words of Scripture, “The wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest.... There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked,” Sin has destroyed our peace. While self is unsubdued, we can find no rest. The masterful passions of the heart no human power can control. We are as helpless here as were the disciples to quiet the raging storm. 

But He who spoke peace to the billows of Galilee, has spoken the word of peace for every soul. However fierce the tempest, those who turn to Jesus ... will find deliverance. His grace ... quiets the strife of human passion, and in His love the heart is at rest.
