자아를 포기함

 

The Redeemer will not accept divided service.

Daily the worker for God must learn the meaning of self-surrender.

He must study the word of God, learning its meaning and obeying its precepts. Thus he may reach the standard of Christian excellence.

 

Day by day God works with him,

perfecting the character that is to stand in the time of final test.

And day by day the believer is working out before men and angels

a sublime experiment, showing what the gospel can do for fallen human beings.

 

구주께서는 마지못해 하는 봉사는 받지 않으실 것이다.

날마다 하나님을 위하여 일하는 자는 반드시 자아 포기가 무엇을 의미하는지 배워야 한다.

그는 하나님의 말씀을 연구하여 그 의미를 배우고 그 교훈을 순종해야 한다.

이렇게 함으로써 그는 탁월한 그리스도인의 표준에 도달할 수가 있다.

 

날마다 하나님께서는 그와 함께 역사하신다.

그리하여 최후의 시련의 때에 설 수 있는 품성을 완성시키신다.

그리고 또한 믿는 자는 날마다 사람들과 천사들 앞에서 숭고한 실험을 해내고 있다.

그리하여 복음이 타락된 인간을 위하여 얼마나 큰 일을 할 수 있는가를 보여준다.

Those who travel in the narrow way

are talking of the joy and happiness they will have at the end of the journey.

Their countenances are often sad, yet often beam with holy, sacred joy.

They do not dress like the company in the broad road, or talk like them,

or act like them. A Pattern has been given them.

A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief opened that road for them,

and traveled it Himself.

His followers see His footsteps and are comforted and cheered.

He went through safely; so can they, if they follow His footsteps.    

 

좁은 길을 가고 있는 자들은 그들이 여행 끝에 가질 기쁨과 행복에 대하여 이야기하고 있다.

그들의 얼굴은 가끔 슬픈 빛을 띠나, 자주 거룩하고 성스러운 빛으로 빛난다.

그들은 넓은 길에 있는 무리처럼 옷입거나 말하거나 행동하지 않는다.

그들에게는 한 분의 모본이 주어져 있었다.

간고를 겪으신 자요 질고를 아는 자께서 그들을 위하여 그 길을 여셨고, 친히 그 길로 걸어가셨다. 그분을 따르는 자들은 그분의 발자취를 보고 위로와 기쁨을 얻는다.

그분께서는 안전하게 지나가셨다.

그러므로 그분의 발자취를 따르는 한, 그들 역시 안전하게 지나갈 수 있다.
