개혁에의 호소

 

자신의 배도에 의하여 영향을 입은 교회가 회개하고 회심하지 않는 한

그는 자기 행위의 열매를 먹을 것이요 급기야는 자기 자신을 싫어하는 지경에 이를 것이다. 

 

교회가 악을 대항하고 선을 택하며, 모든 겸손으로 하나님을 구하고, 

영원한 진리의 강령 위에 서서 믿음으로 그를 위하여 이루어진 것들을 굳게 붙잡으며, 

그리스도 안에서 그 높으신 부르심에 도달하는 때에는 치료를 받을 것이다. 

그는 이 세상의 올무들을 벗어나서 진리가 참으로 그를 자유롭게 한 것을

하나님이 주신 단순함과 순결함을 가지고 드러낼 것이다. 

 

그 때에 그리스도인들은 하나님의 택하신 자들, 하나님의 대사들이 될 것이다 

 

철저한 개혁을 행할 때가 이르렀다. 

이 개혁이 시작될 때에 기도의 정신이 각 신자를 움직여서

불화와 다툼의 정신을 교회에서 몰아낼 것이다. 

그리스도인의 친교 속에서 살아오지 못하였던 이들이 서로 친밀하게 될 것이다.

 

올바른 길에서 일하는 한 그리스도인은 다른 그리스도인들을 인도하여서

그와 함께 성령의 나타나심을 위해서 기도하는데 연합하도록 할 것이다. 

 

모든 사람들이 성령의 생각과 일치하므로 어떤 혼란도 일지 않을 것이다. 

신자들을 서로 갈라놓는 장벽들은 깨어지고 하나님의 종들은 같은 일을 말할 것이다. 

 

주님은 그 종들과 더불어 협력할 것이다. 

 

모든 사람은 그리스도께서 가르쳐 주신 기도, 

곧 “나라에 임하옵시며 뜻이 하늘에서 이룬 것같이 땅에서도 이루어지이다”(마 6:10)하는 기도를 분별 있게 드릴 것이다.

A Call for Reformation

 

Unless the church, which is now being leavened with her own backsliding,

shall repent and be converted,

she will eat of the fruit of her own doing, until she shall abhor herself. 

When she resists the evil and chooses the good,

when she seeks God with all humility and reaches her high calling in Christ,

standing on the platform of eternal truth and by faith laying hold upon the attainments

prepared for her, she will be healed. 

She will appear in her God-given simplicity and purity,

separate from earthly entanglements, showing that the truth has made her free indeed.

Then her members will indeed be the chosen of God, His representatives.

The time has come for a thorough reformation to take place.

When this reformation begins, the spirit of prayer will actuate every believer

and will banish from the church the spirit of discord and strife. 

Those who have not been living in Christian fellowship will draw close to one another. 

One member working in right lines will lead other members

to unite with him in making intercession for the revelation of the Holy Spirit.

There will be no confusion, because all will be in harmony with the mind of the Spirit.

The barriers separating believer from believer will be broken down,

and God’s servants will speak the same things.

The Lord will co-operate with His servants.

All will pray understandingly the prayer that Christ taught His servants:

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10.
