지상 생애에 천국의 분위기를 이룰 수 있다

“Rejoice in the Lord alway,” the apostle Paul exhorts,

“and again I say, Rejoice.” -Philippians 4:4.

Whatever your disposition may be,

God is able so to mold it that it will be sweet and Christlike.

By the exercise of living faith you can separate from everything

that is not in accordance with the mind of God,

and thus bring heaven into your life here below.

Doing this, you will have sunshine at every step.

 

사도 바울은 “주 안에서 항상 기뻐하라 내가 다시 말하노니 기뻐하라”(빌 4:4)고 권고하였다.

하나님께서는 그대의 성품이 어떻든지 간에

온화하고 그리스도와 같은 성품으로 형성시킬 수 있다. 

산 믿음을 활용함으로 그대들은 하나님의 뜻과 일치하지 않는 모든 것에서 자신을 구별하여

이 지상 생애에 천국의 분위기를 이룰 수 있다. 

이렇게 할 때에 전진하는 매 발자국마다 밝은 햇빛이 비쳐질 것이다.

 

When the enemy seeks to enshroud the soul with darkness,

sing faith and talk faith,

and you will find that you have sung and talked yourself into the light.

 

원수가 흑암으로 영혼을 에워싸려고 노력할 때 믿음을 말하고 믿음을 노래하라. 

그렇게 할 때에 그대들은 스스로 빛 가운데서 노래하고 말한 사실을 발견하게 될 것이다.

 

We open to ourselves the floodgates of woe or joy.

 

If we permit our thoughts to be engrossed with the troubles and trifles of earth,

our hearts will be filled with unbelief, gloom, and foreboding.

 

If we set our affections on things above,

the voice of Jesus will speak to our hearts, murmuring will cease,

and vexing thoughts will be lost in praise to our Redeemer.

 

우리는 스스로 재앙의 수문을 열거나 기쁨의 수문을 열 때가 있다.

 

만약 우리의 정신이 이 지상의 난관들과 하찮은 일들로 몰두하게 될 때

우리의 마음은 불신과 우울과 불길한 예감으로 가득 차게 될 것이다.

 

만약 우리가 하늘에 있는 사물에 애정을 둘 때

예수님의 음성은 우리의 심령에 말할 것이며 원망이 그쳐질 것이고

애태우는 생각들이 우리의 구세주를 찬양하는 가운데서 그 자취를 감출 것이다.

 

Those who dwell upon God’s great mercies and are not unmindful of His lesser gifts,

will put on the girdle of gladness and make melody in their hearts to the Lord.

Then they will enjoy their work.

They will stand firm at their post of duty.

They will have a placid temper, a trustful spirit.

 

하나님의 크신 자비에 거하고 주님의 작은 은사들에 대하여 소중히 여기는 자들은

기쁨의 허리띠를 띠고 주님께 향한 저들의 마음에 아름다운 음악을 간직하게 될 것이다. 

그때에 저들은 저희의 일을 즐길 수 있을 것이다. 

저들은 저희의 직무에 견고하게 설 것이며

차분한 성미와 믿음직한 정신을 갖게 될 것이다.
