23 평강의 하나님이 친히 너희를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고

너희의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 때에 흠 없게 보전되기를 원하노라

24 너희를 부르시는 이는 미쁘시니 그가 또한 이루시리라

 

 

Glass Beach

[유리 해변]

 

“On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty,

“they will be my treasured possession.” - Malachi 3:17

 

만군의 여호와가 이르노라

나는 내가 정한 날에 그들을 나의 특별한 소유로 삼을 것이요-말라기 3:17

 

Early 20th-century residents of Fort Bragg, California,

disposed of their trash by throwing it over a cliff and onto a nearby beach.

Cans, bottles, tableware, and household garbage accumulated in huge, disgusting piles. Even when residents stopped depositing trash on the beach,

it remained an embarrassment?a dump seemingly beyond reclamation.

 

20세기 초, 캘리포니아 포트 브랙에 사는 주민들은

쓰레기를 절벽 아래 가까이에 있는 해변으로 던져 처리했습니다.

깡통, 병, 식기, 집안 쓰레기들이 지저분하게 높이 쌓여갔습니다.

주민들이 해변으로 쓰레기 버리는 것을 중지한 후에도

이것은 매립지라고 보기에도 힘든 골칫덩어리로 남아있었습니다.

Over the years, however, wave action broke up the glass and pottery

and washed the rubbish out to sea.

The pounding surf rolled and tumbled the glass fragments in the sand on the ocean floor, frosting and smoothing the surface and creating gemlike “sea glass,”

which it then deposited back onto the beach.

The surf created a kaleidoscopic beauty at which visitors to Glass Beach now

stare in wonder.

 

그러나 오랜 세월 동안 파도와 부딪치면서 유리와 도자기들은 잘게 부서지고

쓰레기는 바다로 씻기어 떠내려갔습니다. 내려치는 파도 물결은 바다 밑 모래들을 휘저으며

그 속에 있는 유리조각들을 이리 돌리고 저리 굴리면서 그 표면들을 갈고 닦아서

보석 같은 “바다 유리”를 만들었고, 그것들을 다시 해변으로 밀어 옮겨놓았습니다.

오늘날 ‘유리 해변’이라 불리는 그곳을 방문하는 사람들은

파도가 만들어낸 만화경 같은 아름다움을 경이롭게 바라봅니다.

Perhaps you feel as though your life has become a dump a mess beyond hope.

If so, you need to know that there is someone

who loves you and waits to redeem and reclaim you.

 

Give Jesus your heart and ask Him to make you pure and clean.

He may tumble you a bit, and it may take time to smooth away the rough edges.

But He will never give up on you.

He will make you into one of His jewels!

 

혹시 당신의 삶이 희망이 전혀 없이 쓰레기더미만 쌓여 있는 것처럼 느껴진다면,

당신을 사랑하여 당신을 회복해서 다시 원래 모습으로 재생시키시려고 기다리고 계시는 분이 있음을 알아야 합니다. 예수님께 마음을 드려 당신을 순결하고 깨끗하게 만들어 달라고 간구하십시오.

주님이 당신의 삶을 조금 흔드실 지도 모르고,

거친 모서리를 부드럽게 만드는데 시간이 좀 걸릴지도 모르겠습니다.

그러나 주님은 당신을 결코 포기하지 않으시고,

당신을 그분의 귀한 보석들 중의 하나로 만드실 것입니다. - David Roper

 

Lord, when we have nothing left but You, we are right where You want us.

You can use any situation for Your glory and our good.

You never give up on us.

Help us to relax in Your love.

 

주님, 우리에게 주님 밖에 희망이 없을 때, 그때가 바로 주님께서 우리를 원하시는 때입니다.

주님은 주님의 영광과 우리의 유익을 위해 어떤 상황도 사용하실 수 있습니다.

주님은 우리를 결코 포기하지 않으십니다.

주님의 사랑 안에서 안식할 수 있게 도와주소서.

 

God loves us too much to let us remain as we are.

 

하나님은 우리를 너무 사랑하시기에 우리가 지금 모습 그대로 있는 것을 원하지 않으신다.
