용기와 희망의 말을 하라

 

We should strive to understand the weakness of others.

우리는 다른 사람들의 약점을 이해하기 위하여 노력해야 한다.

 

We know little of the heart trials of those who have been bound in chains of darkness

and who lack resolution and moral power. 

 

우리는 흑암의 사슬에 매인 채 거기서 벗어나기 위한 결심과

도덕적 능력이 부족한 사람들의 마음의 시련을 별로 알지 못한다.

 

Most pitiable is the condition of him who is suffering under remorse;

he is as one stunned, staggering, sinking into the dust.

He can see nothing clearly.

The mind is beclouded, he knows not what steps to take.

 

가장 비참한 것은 양심의 가책으로 고통받는 사람의 상태이다.

그는 진흙 속으로 빠져들어가면서 비틀거리며 정신을 잃고 있는 사람과 같다.

그는 아무것도 분명하게 볼 수 없다.

마음이 흐려져 있으므로발을 어떻게 옮겨야 할지 모른다.

 

Many a poor soul is misunderstood, unappreciated, full of distress and agony—

a lost, straying sheep.

He cannot find God, yet he has an intense longing for pardon and peace.

 

많은 불쌍한 영혼들이 오해를 받고, 올바른 평가를 받지 못하고,

고통과 번민에 싸인 채 잃어버린 양이 되어 방황하고 있다.

그는 하나님을 발견할 수 없다. 그럴지라도 그는 용서와 평안을 갈급하는 강력한 욕망을 가지고 있다.

 

Oh, let no word be spoken to cause deeper pain!

To the soul weary of a life of sin, but knowing not where to find relief,

present the compassionate Savior.

Take him by the hand, lift him up, speak to him words of courage and hope.

Help him to grasp the hand of the Savior.

 

아, 고통을 더욱 심하게 해 주는 말은 한 마디도 하지 말아야 한다!

죄악 생애에 지쳐있으면서도 벗어날 길을 알지 못하는 사람들에게 긍휼이 많으신 구주를 알려 주라. 그의 손을 잡아 주고, 그를 일으켜 주고, 그에게 용기와 희망의 말을 해 주고,

그를 도와서 구주의 손을 붙들게 해 주라.
