감정이 아닌 변화된 생애

 

Satan leads people to think that because they have felt a rapture of feeling

they are converted.

But their experience does not change.

Their actions are the same as before.

 

사단은 사람들로 하여금 그들이 환희의 감정을 느낌으로

그들이 회심한 것이 확실하다고 생각하게 한다.

그러나 그들의 경험은 변하지 않는다.

그들의 행동은 이전과 마찬가지이다.

 

Their lives show no good fruit.

They pray often and long,

and are constantly referring to the feelings they had at such and such a time.

But they do not live the new life.

They are deceived. Their experience goes no deeper than feeling.

They build upon the sand, and when adverse winds come their house is swept away.

 

그들의 생애는 선한 열매를 나타내지 못한다.

그들은 자주 그리고 길게 기도한다. 그리고 항상 어느어느 때 느낀 감정을 언급한다.

그러나 그들은 새 생애를 살지 않는다.

그들은 속았다. 그들의 경험은 감정 이상으로 더 깊이 들어가지 못한다.

그들은 모래 위에 집을 세운다. 그리하여 폭풍이 불어올 때에 그들의 집은 무너져 버린다.

 

Many poor souls are groping in darkness,

looking for the feelings which others say they have had in their experience.

They overlook the fact that the believer in Christ must work out his own salvation

with fear and trembling.

 

불쌍한 많은 사람들은 흑암 중에 더듬으면서

다른 사람들이 친히 경험하였다고 말한 감정을 찾고 있다.

그리스도를 믿는 자는 두렵고 떨림으로 자기의 구원을 이루지 않으면 안 된다는 사실을

그들은 알지 못하고 있다.

 

The convicted sinner has something to do.

He must repent and show true faith.

 

자신이 죄인임을 자각한 자는 해야 할 일이 있다.

그는 회개하고 진정한 믿음을 나타내야 한다.

 

When Jesus speaks of the new heart, He means the mind, the life, the whole being.

 

예수께서 말씀하신 새 마음은 마음과 생애 즉 전존재를 의미한다.

 

To have a change of heart

is to withdraw the affections from the world, and fasten them upon Christ.

To have a new heart is to have a new mind, new purposes, new motives.

 

변화된 마음을 갖는다는 것은

세상에 대한 모든 애착심을 버리고 그리스도에게 애정을 고착시키는 것을 뜻한다.

새 마음을 갖는다는 것은 새 마음, 새 목적, 새 동기를 갖는 것이다.

 

What is the sign of a new heart?—A changed life.

There is a daily, hourly dying to selfishness and pride.

 

새 마음을 가졌다는 표적은 무엇인가? 그것은 곧 변화한 생애이다.

날마다, 시간마다 이기심과 교만에 대하여 죽는 것이다.
