Practical Duties

실제적 의무

 

Jesus had shown in what righteousness consists, and had pointed to God as its source. Now He turned to practical duties.

 

예수께서는 의가 무엇임을 보여 주시고 하나님을 의의 근원으로 가리키셨다.

이제 그분은 실제적 의무에 대해서 언급하셨다.

 

In almsgiving, in prayer, in fasting, He said,

let nothing be done to attract attention or win praise to self.

 

구제와 기도와 금식을 행할 때에

자신에게 주의를 끌거나 칭찬을 받기 위하여 아무 일도 하지 말도록 하라.

 

Give in sincerity, for the benefit of the suffering poor.

In prayer, let the soul commune with God.

In fasting, go not with the head bowed down, and heart filled with thoughts of self....

 

고통당하는 가난한 자들의 유익을 위하여 진실된 마음으로 주라.

기도할 때에는 진정으로 하나님과 교통하라.

금식할 때에는 머리를 숙이고, 자신에 대한 생각으로 충만한 마음을 안고 다니지 말라…

 

It is he who yields himself most unreservedly to God

that will render Him the most acceptable service.

For through fellowship with God

men become workers together with Him in presenting His character in humanity.

 

하나님께서 가장 기뻐하실 수 있는 봉사를 드릴 자는 자신을 조금도 아낌없이 당신께 바치는 자이다. 왜냐하면 하나님과의 교제를 통하여 사람들은 인류에게 하나님의 품성을 소개하는 일에

당신과 함께 일하는 자가 되기 때문이다.
