자신을 성령의 지도하심에 전적으로 맡길 때
자기 자신을 성령의 지도하심에 전적으로 맡길 때에
그의 정신이 확장되고 계발되는 사실을 발견하게 될 것이다.
하나님을 섬기는 생활 가운데서 편벽되지 않고 결함이 없는 교육을 받게 될 것이며
오직 균형과 완전을 추구하는 계발된 품성을 갖게 될 것이다.
흔들리는 의지와 무기력한 품성에 나타나는 유약성은 극복하게 되고
계속적인 헌신과 경건의 생애는 사람으로 그리스도와 밀접한 관계를 맺게 하므로
그리스도의 정신을 가지게 한다.
그는 그리스도와 하나가 되고 건전한 정신과 원칙적인 사상을 갖게 된다.
그의 식별력은 투철하고 하나님에게서 오는 지혜를 나타내게 된다.
야고보는
“너희 중에 지혜와 총명이 있는 자가 누구뇨
그는 선행으로 말미암아 지혜의 온유함으로 그 행함을 보일지니라” (약 3:13).
“오직 위로부터 난 지혜는
첫째 성결하고 다음에 화평하고 관용하고 양순하며 긍휼과 선한 열매가 가득하고
편벽과 거짓이 없나니 화평케 하는 자들은 화평으로 심어 의의 열매를 거두느니라” (약 3:17, 18) 고 말하였다.
이러한 지혜야말로 구원의 잔을 받고 주님의 이름을 부르는 자에게서 나타나는 지혜일 것이다.
죄를 범한 자에게 사유하심을 주는 이 구원은
그에게 전능하신 주님의 엄밀한 검사를 받게 될 의를 나타낼 것이며
하나님과 인간의 강한 원수를 이기는 승리를 안겨 주고
구원을 받는 자를 위하여 영원한 생명과 기쁨을 주며
따라서 이 구원은 기별을 듣고 기뻐하는 겸손한 자에게 즐거움의 주제가 될 것이다.
He who places himself under the guidance of the Spirit of God
He who places himself unreservedly under the guidance of the Spirit of God,
will find that his mind expands and develops.
He obtains an education in the service of God which is not one-sided and deficient, developing a one-sided character, but one which results in symmetry and completeness. Weaknesses that have been manifested in a vacillating will and powerless character, are overcome, for continual devotion and piety bring the man in such close relation to Christ that he has the mind of Christ. He is one with Christ, having soundness and strength of principle. His perception is clear, and he manifests that wisdom which comes from God.
Says James,
“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?
let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom”
(James 3:13).
“The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality,
and without hypocrisy.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace”
(James 3:17, 18).
This will be the wisdom manifested by him who takes the cup of salvation and
calls upon the name of the Lord.
This salvation, which offers pardon to the transgressor,
presents to him the righteousness that will bear the scrutiny of the Omniscient one,
gives victory over the powerful enemy of God and man,
provides eternal life and joy for its receiver, and
may well be a theme of rejoicing to the humble, who hear thereof and are glad.
