각자가 싸워야 할 개인적인 투쟁이 있다

 

 

우리가 이 세상에 살고 있는 한, 반대의 세력과 부딪치게 될 것이다.
품성을 시험하기 위하여 노를 도발하는 것들이 있을 것인데,

바른 자세로 이들을 대함으로써 그리스도인의 덕성이 성장된다.

그리스도께서 우리 안에 거하시면,

우리는 분하고 초조한 가운데서라도 인내하고 친절하고 관용하며 즐거워하게 될 것이다.
날마다 해마다, 우리는 자아를 이기며 점점 고상하고 용맹하여질 것이다.

이것이 우리가 맡은 직무이다.
그러므로, 예수님의 도움과, 굳센 결심과, 확실한 목적과, 항상 깨어서 끊임없이 기도하는 일이 없이는

이를 성취하지 못한다.

각자가 싸워야 할 개인적인 투쟁이 있다.
하나님께서도, 우리가 당신과 협력하지 않으면

우리의 성질을 고상하게 하거나 혹은 우리의 생애로 유용한 생애가 되게 하실 수 없다.

그리고, 그 싸움을 피하는 자는 힘과 승리의 기쁨을 잃어버리게 된다.

 

Each one has a personal battle to fight

 

So long as we are in the world, we shall meet with adverse influences.
There will be provocations to test the temper;

and it is by meeting these in a right spirit that the Christian graces are developed.

If Christ dwells in us,

we shall be patient, kind, and forbearing, cheerful amid frets and irritations.
Day by day and year by year we shall conquer self, and grow into a noble heroism.
This is our allotted task; but it cannot be accomplished without

help from Jesus, resolute decision, unwavering purpose, continual watchfulness, '

and unceasing prayer.

Each one has a personal battle to fight.
Not even God can make our characters noble or our lives useful,

unless we become co-workers with Him.

Those who decline the struggle lose the strength and joy of victory.
