고통당하는 인류의 불행을 덜어 주는 자들
제자들이 한 일을 우리도 또한 해야 한다. 모든 그리스도인은 선교사가 되어야 한다.
우리는 동정과 긍휼로써 도움이 요구되는 사람들에게 봉사해야 하며,
이타적(利他的) 열성으로 고통당하는 인류의 불행을 가볍게 해 주고자 노력해야 한다.
모든 사람은 무엇인가 할 일을 발견할 수 있다.
어떤 사람도 그리스도를 위하여 활동할 장소가 없다고 생각할 필요는 없다.
구주께서는 당신 자신을 모든 인류와 동일하게 간주하신다.
우리를 하늘 가족의 일원이 되게 하시고자 그분께서는 지상 가족의 일원이 되셨다.
그분께서 인자가 되시므로 아담의 모든 아들 딸들과 형제가 되신다.
예수님을 따르는 사람들은
그들 주위에서 죽어가고 있는 세상에서 자기자신이 분리되어 있다고 생각해서는 안된다.
그들은 인간이라는 큰 직물(織物)의 일부분이므로
하늘은 그들을 성도들의 형제로 여기는 것은 물론이요 죄인들의 형제들로도 여긴다.
질병과 무지와 죄에 빠져 있는 수백만의 사람들이
그들을 위한 그리스도의 사랑에 대하여 들어야 할 만큼 듣지 못하고 있다.
만일 우리의 입장과 그들의 입장이 바뀌어졌다면,
우리는 그들이 우리에게 무엇을 해 주기를 바라겠는가?
그런 입장에서 우리가 바라는 모든 것을 우리는 힘이 미치는 한 그들을 위하여 해 주어야 한다.
심판 때에 우리 각 사람이 설 수 있을 것인지 넘어질 것인지를 측정하는 그리스도의 생명의 법칙은
“그러므로 무엇이든지 남에게 대접을 받고자 하는 대로 너희도 남을 대접하라”는 법칙이다(마 7:12).
Those Who Lighten the Woes of Suffering Humanity
The work which the disciples did, we also are to do. Every Christian is to be a missionary. In sympathy and compassion we are to minister to those in need of help, seeking with unselfish earnestness to lighten the woes of suffering humanity.
All may find something to do. None need feel that there is no place where they can labor for Christ. The Saviour identifies Himself with every child of humanity. That we might become members of the heavenly family, He became a member of the earthly family. He is the Son of man, and thus a brother to every son and daughter of Adam. His followers are not to feel themselves detached from the perishing world around them. They are a part of the great web of humanity, and heaven looks upon them as brothers to sinners as well as to saints.
Millions upon millions of human beings, in sickness and ignorance and sin, have never so much as heard of Christ's love for them. Were our condition and theirs to be reversed, what would we desire them to do for us? All this, so far as lies in our power, we are to do for them. Christ's rule of life by which every one of us must stand or fall in the judgment is, "Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." Matthew 7:12. – Ministry of Healing, 104.
