“지극히 작은 것에 충성된 자는 큰 것에도 충성되고”

 

 

인생의 성공은 세상에서 작은 일이라고 칭하는 것들을 신실히 주의하여 실천하는데 있다.

 

조그마한 자선의 행위, 조그마한 극기의 활동, 사람에게 도움이 되는 간단한 말,

조그마한 죄를 경계하여 감시하는 것－ 이것이 곧 그리스도교 신앙이다.

 

날마다 받는 축복을 감사한 마음으로 인정하는 것, 날마다의 기회를 지혜 있게 이용하는 것,

위탁된 달란트를 부지런히 계발시키는 것－ 이것이 곧 주께서 요구하시는 것들이다.

 

작은 의무를 신실히 이행하는 자는 더 큰 책임의 요구에도 응할 준비가 갖추어질 것이다.

일상 생애에 친절하고 예의 바른 사람, 가정에서 관대하고 오래 참으며

항상 그의 가정을 행복하게 만드는 것을 목적으로 삼는 자는

주께서 부르실 때에 제일 먼저 자기를 부인하고 희생할 자이다.

 

 

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful

also in much”

 

It is conscientious attention to what the world terms “little things”

that makes life a success.

 

Little deeds of charity,

little acts of self-denial,

speaking simple words of helpfulness,

watching against little sins,

—this is Christianity.

 

A grateful acknowledgment of daily blessings,

a wise improvement of daily opportunities,

a diligent cultivation of intrusted talents,

—this is what the Master calls for.

 

He who faithfully performs small duties will be prepared to answer

the demands of larger responsibilities.

The man who is kind and courteous in the daily life,

who is generous and forbearing in his family,

whose constant aim it is to make home happy,

will be the first to deny self and

make sacrifices when the Master calls.
