신의 성품에 참여하기를 갈망하는 모든 사람은

정욕을 인하여 세상에서 썩어질 것을 피하여야 한다는 사실을 이해해야 한다.

마음의 악한 상상들과 끊임없고 열렬한 영혼의 투쟁을 해야 한다.

생각이나 행동으로 죄를 지으라는 유혹에 꿋꿋이 저항해야 한다.

영혼은 우리를 넘어짐에서 보호하시는 그분을 믿으므로 모든 오점에서 보호되어야만 한다.

 

우리는 성경을 명상하면서, 영원한 구원에 관계된 것들을 엄숙하고 정직하게 생각해야 한다.

예수님의 무한한 자비와 사랑, 즉 우리를 위하여 치러진 희생은 가장 진지하고 엄숙한 생각을 요구한다. 우리는 귀하신 구속주와 중보자의 품성을 깊이 생각해야 한다.

우리는 구속의 계획의 의미를 이해하려고 노력해야 한다.

우리는 자기 백성을 저희 죄에서 구원하러 오신 그분의 사명을 명상해야 한다.

 

하늘의 주제들을 끊임없이 명상함으로 말미암아, 우리의 믿음과 사랑은 점점 더 강해질 것이다.

우리의 기도는 더욱더 하나님께 가납될 것인데,

이는 기도에 믿음과 사랑이 더욱 더 섞일 것이기 때문이다.

기도는 더욱더 식별력이 있어지고 열렬해질 것이다.

예수께 대한 한결같은 신뢰가 있을 것이며, 그대는 그분으로 말미암아 하나님께 나아오는

모든 사람을 온전히 구원하실 그리스도의 자원하심과 능력 안에서

날마다 살아 있는 경험을 하게 될 것이다.

 

 

Security in Constant Struggle Against Evil Imaginings

 

Let everyone who desires to be a partaker of the divine nature appreciate the fact

that he must escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.

There must be a constant, earnest struggling of the soul against the evil imaginings

of the mind. There must be a steadfast resistance of temptation to sin in thought or act. The soul must be kept from every stain, through faith in Him who is able to keep you from falling.

 

We should meditate upon the Scriptures, thinking soberly and candidly upon the things that pertain to our eternal salvation.

The infinite mercy and love of Jesus, the sacrifice made in our behalf,

call for most serious and solemn reflection.

We should dwell upon the character of our dear Redeemer and Intercessor.

We should seek to comprehend the meaning of the plan of salvation.

We should meditate upon the mission of Him who came to save His people

from their sins.

 

By constantly contemplating heavenly themes, our faith and love will grow stronger. Our prayers will be more and more acceptable to God

because they will be more and more mixed with faith and love.

They will be more intelligent and fervent.

There will be more constant confidence in Jesus,

and you will have a daily, living experience in the willingness and power of Christ

to save unto the uttermost all that come unto God by Him.
