그분을 쳐다보게 하라

 

“무릇 너희를 범하는 자는 그의 눈동자를 범하는 것이라”(슥 2:8).

 

“너의 길을 여호와께 맡기라. 저를 의지하면 저가 이루시고, 네 의를 빛같이 나타내시며

네 공의를 정오의 빛같이 하시리로다”(시 37:5, 6).

 

“여호와는 또 압제를 당하는 자의 산성이시요 환난 때의 산성이시로다.

여호와여, 주의 이름을 아는 자는 주를 의지하오리니, 이는 주를 찾는 자들을 버리지 아니하심이니이다”(시 9:9, 10).

 

하나님께서는 당신이 우리에게 동정심을 나타내듯이

우리도 다른 사람에게 그것을 나타내라고 명하신다.

 

감정적이고 자기 만족에 빠지고 복수심이 강한 자에게,

도살장에 끌려가는 어린 양같이, 털 깎는 자의 앞에 서서 소리 없는 양같이

복수하지 않는 온유하고 겸손한 분을 보게 하라.

 

우리의 죄로 찔리우고, 우리의 슬픔을 감당하신 예수님을 쳐다보며

참고 견디고 남을 용서하는 것을 배우게 하라.

 

그리스도를 믿음으로 말미암아

품성의 모든 결함은 보충되고, 모든 더러움은 깨끗해지고, 모든 결점은 교정되며,

모든 미점은 발달될 것이다.

 

 

Let Them Look Upon Him

 

“For he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of His eye.” Zechariah 2:8.

 

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.... He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.” Psalm 37:5, 6.

 

“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for Thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.” Psalm 9:9, 10.

 

The compassion that God manifests toward us, He bids us manifest toward others.

Let the impulsive, the self-sufficient, the revengeful, behold the meek and lowly one, led as a lamb to the slaughter, unretaliating as a sheep dumb before her shearers.

Let them look upon Him whom our sins have pierced and our sorrows burdened, and they will learn to endure, to forbear, and to forgive.

Through faith in Christ, every deficiency of character may be supplied, every defilement cleansed, every fault corrected, every excellence developed. – Prayer, 317-8.
