하나님의 말씀의 능력을 보도록 알려 주라

 

 

구주께서는 사람이 어떻게 승리할 수 있을 것인지 보여 주기 위하여 승리하셨다.

그리스도께서는 사단의 모든 시험을 하나님의 말씀으로 대항하셨다.

그분께서는 하나님의 약속을 신뢰함으로 하나님의 계명에 순종할 능력을 받으셨다.

그러므로 유혹하는 자는 아무런 유익을 얻을 수 없었다.

그분께서는 모든 시험을 “기록하였으되” 라는 말씀으로 대처하셨다.

그와 같이 하나님께서는 당신의 말씀을 우리에게 주셔서

악을 저항할 수 있게 해 주셨다.

지극히 크고 귀한 약속을 우리에게 주셨으므로 우리는 그 약속으로 말미암아

“정욕으로 인하여 세상에서 썩어질 것을 피하여 신의 성품에 참여하는 자가”

될 수 있다(벧후 1:4).

 

시험받는 자에게 환경과 자신의 연약함과 유혹의 힘을 보지 말고

하나님의 말씀의 능력을 보도록 알려 주라.

그 모든 힘은 우리의 것이다. 시편 기자는

“내가 주께 범죄치 아니하려 하여 주의 말씀을 내 마음에 두었나이다.”

“주의 입술의 말씀을 좇아 스스로 삼가서 강포한 자의 길에 행치 아니하오며”

라고 말한다(시 119:11, 17:4).

 

사람들에게 용기를 주는 말을 하라. 그들이 기도로써 하나님을 쳐다보게 하라.

시험에 정복당한 많은 사람들은 그들의 실패 때문에 굴욕감을 느끼고

그들이 하나님께로 접근하는 것이 소용없는 일이라고 생각한다.

그러나 그와 같은 생각은 원수의 암시에 속한 것이다.

그들이 죄를 지었으므로 기도할 수 없다고 생각하거든

바로 그 때가 기도할 때라는 것을 그들에게 말해 주라.

그들은 부끄럽게 생각하고 진정으로 자신을 낮출지도 모른다.

그러나 그들이 죄를 자복하면 미쁘시고 의로우신 예수님께서는

그들의 죄를 용서해 주고 그들을 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 해 주실 것이다.

 

사람이 자신의 무력함을 느끼고 구주의 공로에 완전히 의지하는 것보다 더욱 속절없이 보이는 것이 없지마는 실상은 그보다 더 강력한 것은 없다.

기도와 하나님의 말씀의 연구와 그분께서 함께 계심을 믿는 믿음으로

가장 약한 사람도 살아 계신 그리스도와 연결되어 살 수 있다.

그리고 그분께서는 그들을 붙드셔서 그들이 결코 떠나가지 못하게 하실 것이다.

 

Bid the Tempted one Look to the Power of God's Word

 

 

The Saviour overcame to show man how he may overcome. All the temptations of Satan, Christ met with the word of God. By trusting in God's promises, He received power to obey God's commandments, and the tempter could gain no advantage. To every temptation His answer was, "It is written." So God has given us His word wherewith to resist evil. Exceeding great and precious promises are ours, that by these we "might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." 2 Peter 1:4.

Bid the tempted one look not to circumstances, to the weakness of self, or to the power of temptation, but to the power of God's word. All its strength is ours. "Thy word," says the psalmist, "have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee." "By the word of Thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer." Psalms 119:11; 17:4.

Talk courage to the people; lift them up to God in prayer. Many who have been overcome by temptation are humiliated by their failures, and they feel that it is in vain for them to approach unto God; but this thought is of the enemy's suggestion. When they have sinned, and feel that they cannot pray, tell them that it is then the time to pray. Ashamed they may be, and deeply humbled; but as they confess their sins, He who is faithful and just will forgive their sins and cleanse them from all unrighteousness.

Nothing is apparently more helpless, yet really more invincible, than the soul that feels its nothingness and relies wholly on the merits of the Saviour. By prayer, by the study of His word, by faith in His abiding presence, the weakest of human beings may live in contact with the living Christ, and He will hold them by a hand that will never let go. – Ministry of Healing, 181-3.
