모든 시험을 이길 수 있는 능력

 

그리스도를 진정으로 믿는 사람은 신의 성품에 참여하는 자가 되며,

모든 시험을 능히 이길 수 있는 능력을 갖게 된다.─리뷰 앤드 헤랄드, 1909.1.14.

 

타락한 인간은 인간 자신의 힘으로 사단을 이길 수 없기 때문에

그리스도께서 당신의 인성과 신성의 능력을 합하여 인간을 돕기 위해

하늘 궁전에서 오셨다.

 

그리스도께서는 에덴동산의 아담이 그의 탁월한 이점들을 가지고

사단의 유혹을 저항하고 그를 이길 수도 있었음을 아셨다.

주께서는 또한 에덴동산에서 나와서 범죄 때문에 하나님의 빛과 사랑에서 분리된 인간들이 사단의 유혹들을 자신의 힘으로 저항하기가 불가능함을 아셨다.

 

인간에게 희망을 가져다 주시고, 완전한 멸망에서 구원하시기 위하여

당신의 신성의 능력에 인성을 연합시키사

인간이 처해 있는 입장에서 인간과 접촉할 수 있도록 자신을 낮추어 인성을 취하셨다. 

 

주님께서는 사람들이 자신의 힘으로는 스스로 소유할 수 없는 힘을

아담의 타락한 아들딸들을 위하여 취하셨으므로

그들도 당신의 이름을 의지하여 사단의 유혹들을 이길 수 있게 되었다.

 

Power to Meet Every Temptation

 

He who truly believes in Christ is made a partaker of the divine nature, and has power that he can appropriate under every temptation.—The Review and Herald, January 14, 1909.

Because man fallen could not overcome Satan with his human strength, Christ came from the royal courts of heaven to help him with His human and divine strength combined. Christ knew that Adam in Eden with his superior advantages might have withstood the temptations of Satan and conquered him. He also knew that it was not possible for man out of Eden, separated from the light and love of God since the Fall, to resist the temptations of Satan in his own strength. In order to bring hope to man, and save him from complete ruin, He humbled Himself to take man’s nature, that with His divine power combined with the human He might reach man where he is. He obtained for the fallen sons and daughters of Adam that strength which it is impossible for them to gain for themselves, that in His name they might overcome the temptations of Satan.—Redemption, or the Temptation of Christ, 44.
