참된 표적

 

참된 표적

 

 

오늘날 진리의 기별이 제시될 때에

유대인들처럼 우리에게 표적을 보이라, 이적을 행하라고 외치는 사람들이 많이 있다.

그리스도께서는 바리새인들의 요구대로 이적을 행하지 않으셨다.

그분은 광야에서 사단의 꾐에 응답하여 이적을 행하지 않으셨다.

그분께서는 우리 자신을 옹호하거나 불신과 교만의 요구를 채워 주도록

우리에게 능력을 주지 않으신다.

 

그러나 복음에 하나님께서 주신 표적이 없는 것은 아니다.

우리가 사단의 속박을 끊을 수 있는 것은 기적이 아닌가?

사단에 대한 적대감은 사람의 마음의 본성이 아니요

하나님의 은혜로 말미암아 주입된 것이다.

완고하고 억센 의지의 지배를 받던 자가 해방을 얻고

하나님의 거룩한 능력의 이끄심에 전심으로 복종할 때 기적이 이루어진다.

강력한 미혹을 당하였던 사람이 도덕적 진리를 깨닫게 되는 때에도 그러하다.

 

한 영혼이 회개하고 하나님을 사랑하고 그 분의 계명을 지키기를 배우는 때마다

“또 새 영을 너희 속에 두고 새 마음을 너희에게 주”(겔 36：26)시겠다는

하나님의 약속이 성취된다.

인간의 마음에 일어나는 변화, 곧 인간의 품성의 변화는

항상 살아 계신 구주께서 영혼을 구하려고 역사하고 계심을 보여 주는 기적이다.

그리스도 안에서의 언행일치의 생애는 하나의 큰 이적이다.

 

하나님의 말씀을 전함에 있어서 지금 그리고 항상 나타내야 할 표적은

듣는 자들에게 그 말씀이 개심시키는 능력이 되게 하는 성령의 임재하심이다.

이것이 곧 하나님께서 당신 아들의 거룩한 사명에 대하여 세상에 제시하시는 증거다.

 

 

 

 

The True Sign

 

 

When the message of truth is presented in our day, there are many who, like the Jews, cry, Show us a sign. Work us a miracle. Christ wrought no miracle at the demand of the Pharisees. He wrought no miracle in the wilderness in answer to Satan's insinuations. He does not impart to us power to vindicate ourselves or to satisfy the demands of unbelief and pride.

But the gospel is not without a sign of its divine origin. Is it not a miracle that we can break from the bondage of Satan? Enmity against Satan is not natural to the human heart; it is implanted by the grace of God. When one who has been controlled by a stubborn, wayward will is set free, and yields himself wholeheartedly to the drawing of God's heavenly agencies, a miracle is wrought; so also when a man who has been under strong delusion comes to understand moral truth.

Every time a soul is converted, and learns to love God and keep His commandments, the promise of God is fulfilled, "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you." Ezek. 36:26. The change in human hearts, the transformation of human characters, is a miracle that reveals an ever-living Saviour, working to rescue souls. A consistent life in Christ is a great miracle. In the preaching of the word of God, the sign that should be manifest now and always is the presence of the Holy Spirit, to make the word a regenerating power to those that hear. This is God's witness before the world to the divine mission of His Son. – Desires of Ages, 407.
