하늘나라는 이 땅에서 시작된다

예수를 힘입어 우리가 안식을 얻는 때에 하늘나라는 여기에서 시작된다. ‘와서 나를 배우라’는 주님의 초청에 응답하여 나옴으로 우리는 영생을 시작하는 것이다. 하늘이란 그리스도를 통하여 끊임없이 하나님께 가까이 나아가는 것이다. 우리가 천국의 복락을 오래 누릴수록 더욱더 풍성한 영광이 우리 앞에 열릴 것이며 하나님을 알수록 우리의 행복은 증대할 것이다. 우리가 이생에서 예수와 동행할 때에는 당신의 사랑으로 충만함을 입을 것이요 당신의 임재하심으로 만족을 느낄 것이다. 인성이 감당할 수 있는 모든 것을 우리는 이 땅에서 받을 수 있을 것이다.(소망 331, 332)

주님의 백성들이 온유와 친절로 충만해질 때, 그들은 그분의 사랑이 그들 위에 기(旗)이고 그분의 실과는 그들 입에 달다는 것을 깨달을 것이다. 그들은 위에 있는 하늘을 준비하기 위하기 위하여 그들이 살고 있는 땅을 하늘로 만들 것이다.(7증언 131)

천국은 이 땅에서 시작되는 것이다. … 산 믿음으로 그리스도를 영접한 자는 하나님과 산 교제를 갖는다.…그는 세상이 살 수 없는 보물, 하나님의 은혜인 하늘의 분위기를 지니고 다닌다. 하늘에서 성도가 되고자 한다면 먼저 지상에서 성도가 되어야 한다.(Letter 18b, 1891.)

“그의 종들이 그를 섬기”(계 22:3)리라. 지상의 생활은 하늘 생활의 시작이요, 지상의 교육은 하늘 원칙에 입문(入門)하는 것이며, 이생에서의 인생 활동은 내세에서의 인생 활동을 위한 훈련이다. 품성과 거룩한 봉사에 있어서, 우리의 현재 모습은 장차 우리가 이루게 될 모습의 확실한 그림자이다.

“인자가 온 것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 … 함이니라”(마 20:28). 이 세상에서 하신 그리스도의 사업은 하늘에서 하시는 그분의 사업으로서, 우리가 세상에서 그분과 함께 일할 때에 내세에서는 그분과 함께 일할 더 큰 능력과 특권으로 보상받을 것이다.

“너희는 나의 증인이요 나는 하나님이니라”(사 43:12). 이것도 또한 영원히 우리에게 관계된 말씀이 될 것이다.(교육 307, 308)

하늘의 행복은 하나님의 뜻을 따름으로 발견된다. 만약 사람이 하나님의 왕가의 일원이 된다면 그것은 하늘이 그들과 함께 지상에서 시작되었기 때문이다. … 의는 모든 은총과 모든 진귀하고 정화된 능력을 위의 궁중으로 가져가 지상을 하늘로 바꿀 것이다. 하나님께서는 누가 이 땅에서 그분의 왕국에 관한 주제에 충실하고 진실한지 알고 계시며 하늘에서 행한 것 같이 이 땅에서 그분의 뜻을 행하는 자들에게 하늘 왕가의 일원이 되게 하실 것이다.(SD 361)

Heaven Begins Here

As through Jesus we enter into rest, heaven begins here. We respond to His invitation, Come, learn of Me, and in thus coming we begin the life eternal. Heaven is a ceaseless approaching to God through Christ. The longer we are in the heaven of bliss, the more and still more of glory will be opened to us; and the more we know of God, the more intense will be our happiness. As we walk with Jesus in this life, we may be filled with His love, satisfied with His presence. All that human nature can bear, we may receive here.—The Desire of Ages, 331, 332.

When the Lord’s people are filled with meekness and tenderness, they will realize that His banner over them is love, and His fruit will be sweet to their taste. They will make a heaven below in which to prepare for heaven above.—Testimonies for the Church 7:131.

He who receives Christ by living faith has a living connection with God.... He carries with him the atmosphere of heaven, which is the grace of God, a treasure that the world cannot buy.

If you would be a saint in heaven, you must first be a saint on earth.—Letter 18b, 1891 quoted in Sons and Daughters of God, 112.

“His servants shall serve Him.” Revelation 22:3. The life on earth is the beginning of the life in heaven; education on earth is an initiation into the principles of heaven; the lifework here is a training for the lifework there. What we now are, in character and holy service, is the sure foreshadowing of what we shall be.

“The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister.” Matthew 20:28. Christ’s work below is His work above, and our reward for working with Him in this world will be the greater power and wider privilege of working with Him in the world to come.

“Ye are My witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.” Isaiah 43:12. This also we shall be in eternity.—Education, 307, 308.

The happiness of heaven will be found by conforming to the will of God, and if men become members of the royal family in heaven, it will be because heaven has begun with them on earth.... The righteous will take every grace, every precious, sanctified ability, into the courts above, and exchange earth for heaven. God knows who are the loyal and true subjects of His kingdom on earth, and those who do His will upon earth as it is done in heaven, will be made the members of the royal family above.—Sons and Daughters of God, 361.
