기도는 우리를 하나님 자신의 존전으로 데려간다

비밀 기도는 어느 곳에서나, 어느 시간에나 적당하다.

그대들은 골방에서 기도할 것이요,

그대들이 매일의 업무를 행할 때에도 그대들의 마음을 자주 하나님께로 향하게 하라.

 

에녹이 하나님과 동행한 것도 이렇게 함으로 된 것이다.

이렇게 하는 묵상 기도는 좋은 향내와 같이 은혜의 보좌 앞으로 올라가는 것이다.

그 심지가 하나님을 굳게 의지하는 자는 사단도 능히 정복할 수 없다.

 

하나님께 기도를 올리기에 부적당한 시간이나 장소는 없다.

아무 것도 우리의 마음을 열성 있는 기도의 정신으로 하나님께로 향하게 하는 것을 막을 수 있는 것은 없다. 거리의 사람이 많은 곳에서나 일에 종사하고 있는 중에서라도

우리는 옛날 느헤미야가 아닥사스다왕 앞에 자기의 소원을 아뢴 것처럼

하나님께 기도하여 그의 지도를 구할 수 있는 것이다.

 

우리는 항상 마음문을 열어놓고

예수께서 하늘의 손님으로서 우리의 마음에 들어와 계시기를 청하는 초청을 보내야 할 것이다.

 

기도는 우리를 하나님 자신의 존전으로 데려간다.

공적인 모임에서, 가족 제단에서 또는 은밀하게 드려지는 기도는 사람을 곧장 하나님의 존전에 두게 한다. 끊임없는 기도로

젊은이들은 가장 강력한 유혹들이 하나님께 대한 그들의 충성으로부터 그들을 끌어내리지 않도록

매우 굳센 원칙을 가져야 할 것이다.

Prayer Brings Us Into the Presence of God Himself

 

Secret Prayer Is Appropriate Anywhere, Anytime—Pray in your closet, and as you go about your daily labor let your heart be often uplifted to God.

It was thus that Enoch walked with God. These silent prayers rise like precious incense before the throne of grace. Satan cannot overcome him whose heart is thus stayed upon God.

There is no time or place in which it is inappropriate to offer up a petition to God. There is nothing that can prevent us from lifting up our hearts in the spirit of earnest prayer. In the crowds of the street, in the midst of a business engagement, we may send up a petition to God and plead for divine guidance, as did Nehemiah when he made his request before King Artaxerxes. A closet of communion may be found wherever we are. We should have the door of the heart open continually and our invitation going up that Jesus may come and abide as a heavenly guest in the soul.—(Steps to Christ, 98, 99).

Prayer Brings Us Into the Presence of God Himself—Prayer, whether offered in the public assembly, at the family altar, or in secret, places man directly in the presence of God. By constant prayer the youth may obtain principles so firm that the most powerful temptations will not draw them from their allegiance to God.—(My Life Today, 18.)
