에녹의 모본은 우리에게 도전을 던짐

에녹이 그의 시대에 의로운 삶을 살기는 현 시대에 우리가 그렇게 사는 것 못지 않게 어려웠다.

에녹이 살던 시대는 은혜와 성결 가운데서 자라나는데 있어서 지금보다 조금도 유리하지 않았다.

그러나 에녹은 기도와 하나님과의 교통에 시간을 할애하였고,

이렇게 함으로써 그는 "정욕을 인하여 세상에서 썩어질 것”을 피할 수 있었다.

그가 승천하기에 적합하게 된 것은 하나님께 대한 그의 헌신과 경건 때문이었다. 
우리는 마지막 날의 위험 가운데 살고 있다.
우리는 에녹이 그랬던 것처럼 동일한 근원에서 우리의 힘을 받지 않으면 안 된다.

우리는 하나님과 동행해야 한다.

우리는 세상과 분리되라는 요청을 받고 있다.
우리가 신실한 에녹의 모본을 쫓아 하나님과 동행하지 않는 한 이 불결을 피해 깨끗하게 남아있을 수 없다.

그러나 얼마나 많은 사람들이 육체의 정욕과 안목의 정욕, 이생의 자랑의 노예가 되어 있는지.

이것이 바로 그들이 “정욕을 인하여 세상에서 썩어질 것을 피하여 신의 성품에 참여”하지 못하는 이유이다.

그들은 자아를 섬기고 영화롭게 하고 있다.

그들이 끊임없이 연구하는 것은, 내가 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 무엇을 입을까? 이다.

그리스도교를 믿노라고 공언하는 남성, 여성 그리고 청년들은 그들에게 지워져 있는 책임을 깨달아야 한다.

모든 사람들은, 그 책임이란 그들의 일상적인 삶 가운데서

개인적 일, 개인적 싸움, 개인적으로 그리스도를 전파하는 것임을 깨달아야한다....

의의 태양이 우리에게 비칠 것이며, 하나님의 영광의 빛이 헌신한 에녹에게 차단되지 않았던 것처럼

우리에게도 차단되지 않을 것이다.

Enoch’s Example Challenges Us Today

It was no easier for Enoch to live a righteous life in his day than it is for us at the present time.
The world in Enoch’s time was no more favorable to a growth in grace and holiness than it is now, but Enoch devoted time to prayer and communion with God, and this enabled him to escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.

It was his devotion to God that fitted him for translation. 
We are living amid the perils of the last days, and we must receive our strength from the same source as did Enoch. We must walk with God.

A separation from the world is required of us.
We cannot remain free from this pollution unless we follow the example of faithful Enoch and walk with God.

But how many are slaves to the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eye, and the pride of life.
This is the reason they are not partakers of the divine nature, and do not escape the corruption that is in the world through lust. They are serving and honoring self.
Their constant study is: What shall I eat, what shall I drink, and wherewithal shall I be clothed? 

Every man, woman, and youth who professes the religion of Christ should realize the responsibility resting upon them. All should feel that this is an individual work, an individual warfare, an individual preaching of Christ in the daily practice....

The Sun of Righteousness would shine upon us, and the light of the glory of God would no more be shut from us than it was from the devoted Enoch.
