시련과 고통의 풀무에서 얻게 될 경험

사업이 어려울 때에 그들의 주님을 섬긴 사람,

진리를 위하여 서는 사람이 거의 없을 때에 빈곤을 견디고 충실히 선 사람들은 영광과 존경을 받아야 한다....

박해를 당한 사도 요한의 경험 가운데 그리스도인을 위한 경이로운 힘과 안위의 교훈이 있다.

하나님께서는 악인들의 음모를 방해하지 않으시지만

그들의 계책을 시련과 투쟁 가운데서 그들의 신앙과 충성을 유지하는 사람들에게 유익이 되도록

작용하게 하신다. 

흔히 복음 사역자는 핍박의 폭풍과 쓰라린 반대와 부당한 비난 가운데서 그의 사업을 수행한다.

그러한 때에 시련과 고통의 풀무에서 얻게 될 경험은

온갖 고통을 치르고라도 얻을 가치가 있다는 것을 기억하도록 하라. 

이와 같이 하나님께서는 당신의 자녀들을 당신께 가까이 이끄시고

그들에게 그들의 연약함과 당신의 능력을 보이실 수 있으시다. 

하나님께서는 당신을 의지하라고 그들을 가르치신다.

이와 같이 하나님께서는

위기에 대처하고 신임의 지위를 감당하고 그들에게 성취하도록 주어진 능력의 큰 목적을 성취할 수 있도록

그들을 준비시키신다.

The Experience to be Gained in the Furnace of Trial and Affliction

Those who have served their Master when the work went hard, who endured poverty and remained faithful when there were few to stand for truth, are to be honored and respected....

In the experience of the apostle John under persecution, there is a lesson of wonderful strength and comfort for the Christian. God does not prevent the plottings of wicked men, but He causes their devices to work for good to those who in trial and conflict maintain their faith and loyalty. 

Often the gospel laborer carries on his work amid storms of persecution, bitter opposition, and unjust reproach. At such times let him remember that the experience to be gained in the furnace of trial and affliction is worth all the pain it costs. 

Thus God brings His children near to Him, that He may show them their weakness and His strength. 

He teaches them to lean on Him. Thus He prepares them to meet emergencies, to fill positions of trust, and to accomplish the great purpose for which their powers were given them.
