평신도의 전진

일꾼들은 하나님 안에 홀로 서서 그들의 동료 인간들의 구원을 위하여 울고, 기도하고, 활동해야 한다.

그대들은 썩지 않을 면류관을 얻기 위하여 경주를 하고 있다는 것을 기억하라.

너무도 많은 사람들이 하나님의 은총보다는 사람의 칭찬을 좋아하고 있는 동안,

겸손하게 일하는 것이 그대의 몫이 되게 하라. 

그대들의 이웃을 은혜의 보좌 앞에 제시하여 그들의 마음을 감동시켜 주시도록

하나님께 탄원하는 일에 믿음을 활용하는 법을 배우라.

이렇게 함으로써 효과적인 선교 사업이 이루어질 것이다.

목사나 문서 전도자의 말을 듣지 못한 자들을 만날 수도 있을 것이다.

그러므로 새로운 지역에서 이같이 활동하는 자들은

사람들에게 접근하는 최상의 방법을 배우고 다른 일꾼들을 위한 길을 예비할 수 있을 것이다.

이 사업에 종사하는 자는 귀중한 경험을 얻을 수가 있다.

그는 그의 이웃의 영혼들에 대한 부담을 마음속에 갖는다.

그는 예수님의 도움을 받아야 한다.

그는 마음속에 간직한 죄 때문에 하나님께로부터 분리되지 않고,

또한 그의 기도가 방해를 받지 않도록 함으로 조심하면서 신중하게 걸어가야 할 것이다.

이러한 일꾼은 다른 사람들을 도와주고 있는 동안 스스로 영적인 힘과 총명을 얻고 있다.

그리하여 그는 이 겸손한 훈련을 통하여 보다 넓은 일터로 들어갈 자격을 얻게 된다.

만일 우리가 하나님을 신뢰하면서 앞으로 전진할 것 같으면 우리는 자금 때문에 중지 당하지 않을 것이다.

주께서는 당신을 진실하게 믿는 모든 사람을 위하여 즐겨 큰 일을 하고자 하신다.

만일 교회의 평신도들이 그들이 할 수 있는 일을 하기 위해 일어나

그들 자신의 비용으로 싸움을 계속 할 것 같으면,

각 사람은 그가 예수님께 영혼을 구원하는 일에 얼마나 많은 것을 성취할 수 있는지 보게 될 것이고,

우리도 많은 사람들이 사단의 대열을 떠나서 그리스도의 깃발 아래서는 것을 보게 될 것이다. 

만일 우리의 백성들이 이 몇 마디의 교훈의 말씀을 따라 행동한다면

우리는 하나님의 구원을 분명히 볼 것이다.

놀라운 부흥이 따를 것이다.

죄인들은 회개할 것이고, 많은 영혼들이 교회에 들어올 것이다.

우리가 마음을 그리스도와 연합시키고, 우리의 생애가 그분의 사업과 조화를 이룰 때에

오순절 날에 제자들 위에 내렸던 성령께서 우리 위에 내리실 것이다.

Lay Members to Go Forth

Let the workers stand alone in God, weeping, praying, laboring for the salvation of their fellow men. Remember that you are running a race, striving for a crown of immortality. While so many love the praise of men more than the favor of God, let it be yours to labor in humility. 

Learn to exercise faith in presenting your neighbors before the throne of grace and pleading with God to touch their hearts. In this way effectual missionary work may be done. Some may be reached who would not listen to a minister or a colporteur. And those who thus labor in new places will learn the best ways of approaching the people and can prepare the way for other laborers. 

A precious experience may be gained by one who engages in this work. He has upon his heart the burden of the souls of his neighbors. He must have the help of Jesus. How careful he will be to walk circumspectly, that his prayers may not be hindered, that no cherished sin may separate him from God. While helping others, such a worker is himself obtaining spiritual strength and understanding, and in this humble school he may become qualified to enter a wider field.

We shall not be stinted for means if we will only go forward trusting in God. The Lord is willing to do a great work for all who truly believe in Him. If the lay members of the church will arouse to do the work that they can do, going on a warfare at their own charges, each seeing how much he can accomplish in winning souls to Jesus, we shall see many leaving the ranks of Satan to stand under the banner of Christ. 

If our people will act upon the light that is given in these few words of instruction, we shall surely see of the salvation of God. Wonderful revivals will follow. Sinners will be converted, and many souls will be added to the church. When we bring our hearts into unity with Christ, and our lives into harmony with His work, the Spirit that fell on the disciples on the Day of Pentecost will fall on us.
