우리의 유일한 안전책

그리스도께서는 그분이 오실 때 당신을 기다리는 무리들 중에서

어떤 사람은 사업 거래에 종사할 것이며 어떤 사람은 들에서 씨를 뿌릴 것이고,

다른 사람들은 추수장에서 수확할 것이며 또 다른 사람들은 맷돌을 갈고 있을 것이라고 말씀하셨다.

그분의 택하신 백성들이 생활의 의무와 책임을 버리고

한가하게 명상하며 종교적인 환상에 사로잡혀 사는 것은 하나님의 뜻이 아니다.
그대가 이 세상에서 추진할 수 있는 모든 선한 일들을 박력 있게 하라.

우리는 이날이 우리에게 허용될 수 있는 마지막 날인 것처럼 경계하고 일하고 기도해야 한다.

우리의 유일한 안전책은 매일의 업무를 행함에 있어서 매 순간,

죽었다가 다시 사시고 영원히 계신 그분의 힘에 의지하여 깨어 기다리며 일하는 것이다.

매일 아침 그날을 위해 그대 자신과 그대의 자녀들을 하나님께 바치라.

여러 달 혹은 여러 해를 기약하지 말라. 그것들은 그대의 것이 아니다.

단지 짧은 한 날이 그대에게 주어졌을 뿐이다.

그날이 마치 지상에서의 마지막 날인 것처럼 주님을 위해 열심히 일하라.

그대의 모든 계획을 하나님께 내어 놓고 주님의 섭리가 지시하는대로 추진하든가 포기하든지 하라.

Our only Safety

Christ declared that when He comes some of His waiting people will be engaged in business transactions. Some will be sowing in the field, others reaping and gathering in the harvest, and others grinding at the mill.

It is not God’s will that His elect shall abandon life’s duties and responsibilities and give themselves up to idle contemplation, living in a religious dream.
Crowd all the good works you possibly can into this life.

We should watch and work and pray as though this were the last day that would be granted us.

Our only safety is in doing our work for each day as it comes, working, watching, waiting, every moment relying on the strength of Him who was dead and who is alive again, who lives forevermore.

Each morning consecrate yourselves and your children to God for that day. Make no calculation for months or years; these are not yours. one brief day is given you. As if it were your last on earth, work during its hours for the Master.

Lay all your plans before God, to be carried out or given up, as His providence shall indicate.
