우리는 성령의 강림을 위하여 열렬하게 기도해야 함

우리는 제자들이 오순절 날에 성령의 강림을 위하여 기도했던 것처럼 열렬하게 기도해야 한다. 
그 당시에 그들에게 그것이 필요했다면 우리는 오늘날 더욱 그것을 필요로 한다.

교회에 주어질 성령의 강림이 장래에 있을 것으로 기대되고 있으나

교회가 지금 그 은혜를 받는 것이 특권이다.

성령의 강림을 위하여 구하고, 그것을 받기 위하여 기도하고, 그것이 있을 것을 믿으라. 
우리는 그것을 소유해야 한다. 그리고 하늘은 그것을 주려고 기다리고 있다.

우리가 받게 될 성령의 분량은 우리의 갈망의 정도와, 그것을 위하여 행사되는 우리의 믿음과,

우리에게 주어지게 될 빛과 지식을 우리가 활용하는 데 비례할 것이다.

우리 가운데 있어야 할 참된 경건의 부흥은 우리의 모든 필요 중에서도 가장 심각하고 가장 긴급한 것이다. 

이러한 신앙 부흥을 일으키는 것이 우리의 첫째 사업이 되어야 한다. 

하나님께서 당신의 축복을 우리에게 베풀고 싶지 않으시기 때문이 아니라

우리가 축복을 받을 준비가 되어 있지 않기 때문에 주님의 축복을 받기 위한 열렬한 노력을 기울여야 한다. 
우리의 하늘 아버지께서는 세상의 부모들이 저희 자식들에게 좋은 선물을 주고 싶어하는 그 이상으로

당신께 구하는 자들에게 성령을 주시려고 하신다. 

그러나 하나님께서 우리에게 당신의 축복을 허락하시는 약속에 대한 조건들을 성취시키는 것은

우리가 해야 할 일이며 그 조건들이란 죄에 대한 자복, 겸비, 회개 및 열렬한 기도이다. 
신앙 부흥은 오직 기도에 대한 응답으로서 기대할 필요가 있다.

We Should Pray Earnestly for the Descent of the Holy Spirit.

We should pray as earnestly for the descent of the Holy Spirit as the disciples prayed on the Day of Pentecost. 
If they needed it at that time, we need it more today.

The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the church is looked forward to as in the future, but it is the privilege of the church to have it now. Seek for it, pray for it, believe for it. 
We must have it, and Heaven is waiting to bestow it.

The measure of the Holy Spirit we receive will be proportioned to the measure of our desire and the faith exercised for it, and the use we shall make of the light and knowledge that shall be given to us.

A revival of true godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs. 
To seek this should be our first work. 

There must be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but because we are unprepared to receive it. 
Our heavenly Father is more willing to give His Holy Spirit to them that ask Him, than are earthly parents to give good gifts to their children. 

But it is our work, by confession, humiliation, repentance, and earnest prayer, to fulfill the conditions upon which God has promised to grant us His blessing. 
A revival need be expected only in answer to prayer.
