우주의 원칙

하늘이 준 능력을 사용하기를 거절할 때마다 그 능력은 썩어 소멸되고 마는 것이 우주의 원칙이다. 

진리도 그대로 살지 않고 또 나누어 주지 않으면 생명을 주는 능력과 치료하는 효능을 잃어버리게 된다. 

그러므로 사도는 모든 사람을 그리스도 안에서 온전히 세우기에 실패하지나 않을까 염려하였다. 

바울이 그의 편의 어떤 실수로 인하여

교회에게 하나님의 모습 대신 인간의 모습을 심어 주었을지도 모른다는 것을 깊이 생각하자

그가 가지고 있던 하늘의 소망은 점점 희미해졌다.

만일 그가 수고한 이들을 위한 사업에 불충실함으로 하나님의 은혜를 잃어버린다면

그의 지식, 뛰어난 웅변, 행한 여러 이적들, 삼중 하늘에 올라가 영원한 사물을 목도함 등

이 모든 것이 모두 허사가 되고 말 것이다. 

그러므로 바울은 입의 말과 편지로서 그리스도를 받아들인 사람들에게

“흠이 없고 순전하여 어그러지고 거스리는 세대 가운데서 하나님의 흠 없는 자녀로

세상에서…빛들로 나타내며 생명의 말씀을 밝”히는 사람들이 될 수 있는 길을 따라가라고 탄원하였다.

A Universal Principle

It is a universal principle that whenever one refuses to use his God-given powers,

these powers decay and perish.

Truth that is not lived, that is not imparted, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. 

Hence the apostle's fear that he might fail of presenting every man perfect in Christ.

Paul's hope of heaven grew dim when he contemplated any failure on his part

that would result in giving the church the mold of the human instead of the divine.

His knowledge, his eloquence, his miracles, his view of eternal scenes when caught up to the third heaven--all would be unavailing if through unfaithfulness in his work those for whom he labored should fail of the grace of God. 

And so, by word of mouth and by letter, he pleaded with those who had accepted Christ, to pursue a course that would enable them to be "blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, . . . as lights in the world, holding forth the word of life." Philippians 2:15, 16.
