그대는 품성의 활력을 계발해야 한다.

이는 정력적인 사람의 모본은 멀리 파급되며 따라 하지 않을 수 없게 만들기 때문이다.

그는 다른 사람의 마음에 끼치는 전기력을 갖고 있는 것처럼 보인다.

진지한 사람은 세상에 소수이다.

하나님을 위하여 일하는 모든 일꾼은 장애물과 장벽을 만날 것이다.

그러나 스스로 분발해야 한다.

정력적이고 열렬한 일꾼은 그의 길이 울타리로 완전히 막히도록 허용하지 않을 것이다.

그대는 꾸준하고 한결같고 굽힐 줄 모르는 활력을 원한다.

그대는 자신을 단련시켜야 한다. 전적인 변화를 이룩하라.

분발하고 모든 유치한 감정들을 극복하라.

그대는 자신에게 너무 많이 연민의 감정을 느낀다.

그대는 하찮은 일들을 하면서 인생을 보내지 않겠다고 결심해야 한다.

그대는 뭔가를 성취하고 그것을 행하기로 결심해야 한다.

그대는 좋은 결심들을 갖고 있다.

그대는 항상 뭔가를 해야 할 작정은 하지만, 그 일에 착수하고 행하지는 않는다.

그대가 행하는 일의 대부분은 실천하기보다는 그저 말뿐이다.

그대가 더욱 열렬한 활력을 갖고 장애물에도 아랑곳하지 않고 뭔가를 성취하기를 원한다면

훨씬 더 건강이 양호할 것이다.

Electric Power on Other Minds (counsel to a lethargic man)

You should cultivate energy of character, for the example of an energetic man is far-reaching and compels imitation.

He seems to have an electric power on other minds. The earnest men are few in our world.

Obstacles and barriers will meet every worker for God. But men must have the push in them.

The energetic, earnest worker will not allow his way to be hedged up. He will force down the barriers.

You want a steady, uniform, unyielding energy. You must discipline yourself. Make an entire change.

Put forth exertions and overcome all childish feelings. You have pitied yourself too much. You should have a determination that life shall not pass with you in working at trifles.

You should determine to accomplish something and do it. You have good resolutions. You are ever going to do something, but you do not get at it and do it.

Much of your doing is in talk rather than action. You would have far better health if you would have more earnest energy and accomplish something in spite of obstacles.
