시련의 목적

“너희 믿음의 시련이 불로 연단하여도 없어질 금보다 더 귀하여

예수 그리스도의 나타나실 때에 칭찬과 영광과 존귀를 얻게 하려 함이라”(벧전 1:7).

하나님께서 당신의 백성들이 시련을 당하도록 허락하시는 것은

자신들의 성실성과 순종으로 그들 스스로가 영적으로 부요하게 되며

그들의 모본이 다른 사람들에게 힘의 근원이 되도록 하기 위함이다.

“나 여호와가 말하노라 너희를 향한 나의 생각은 내가 아나니 재앙이 아니라 곧 평안 이라.”(렘 29:11)

우리의 믿음을 격렬하게 시험하므로

하나님께서 우리를 버리신 것처럼 보이게 하는 바로 그 시련들은,

우리가 우리의 모든 짐들을 그 분의 발아래 놓고, 그 대신 그분께서 우 리에게 주실 평안을 경험하도록

우리를 그리스도께로 더욱 가까이 인도하기 위함이다.

The Reason of Trials

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:7.

God permits trials to assail His people, that by their constancy and obedience they themselves may be spiritually enriched, and that their example may be a source of strength to others.

“I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil” (Jeremiah 29:11).

The very trials that task our faith most severely and make it seem that God has forsaken us, are to lead us closer to Christ, that we may lay all our burdens at His feet and experience the peace which He will give us in exchange.
