지상의 무수한 사람들의 운명은 결정되려 하고 있다

우리는 이 세상 역사의 가장 엄숙한 시기에 살고 있다.

지상의 무수한 사람들의 운명은 바야흐로 결정되려 하고 있다.

우리의 미래의 행복과 다른 영혼들의 구원은 우리가 지금 걸어가고 있는 길에 의하여 좌우된다.

우리는 진리의 영으로 지도 받을 필요가 있다.

그리스도를 따르는 모든 사람들은 “주여 내가 무엇을 하기를 원하십니까”라고 간절한 마음으로 물어야 한다.

우리는 금식과 기도로써 주님 앞에 우리 자신을 겸비하게 하고

하나님의 말씀, 특별히 심판의 광경에 대하여 많이 생각해야 한다.

우리는 지금 하나님의 사물에 대하여 깊고, 산 경험을 얻기 위하여 노력해야 한다.

우리는 한 순간도 허비하지 말아야 한다.

참으로 중대한 사건들이 우리 주위에서 일어나고 있다.

우리는 사단의 요술에 걸려 있는 땅에 처해 있다.

하나님의 파수꾼들아, 졸지 말라. 원수는 몰래 가까이 접근하고 있다.

그는 그대들의 마음이 해이해져서 졸고 있을 때

어떤 순간이든지 덤벼들어 그대들을 사로잡으려고 준비하고 있다.

많은 사람들은 하나님 앞에서의 그들의 진정한 상태가 어떠한지에 대하여 속고 있다.

그들은 그들이 악한 일을 범하지 아니한 것을 자랑하는 한편

하나님께서 요구하시는 선하고 고상한 행위를 행치 아니한 것을 잊어버렸다.

그들이 하나님의 정원에 있는 나무가 되는 것만으로는 넉넉지 못하다.

그들은 과실을 맺음으로써 하나님의 기대에 부응해야 한다.

하나님께서는 그들이 그들을 강하게 해주는 하나님의 은혜를 통하여 성취할 수 있었던

모든 선을 행치 못한 것에 대하여 책임을 그들에게 지우신다.

그들은 하늘책에 땅을 버리게 하는 자들로 기록된다.

그러나 이런 부류의 사람들의 경우일지라도 전혀 소망이 없는 것은 아니다.

하나님의 자비를 거절하고 그분의 은혜를 남용한 자들에 대하여

오랫동안 참으시는 사랑의 마음은 여전히 탄원하신다.

“그러므로 이르시기를 잠자는 자여 깨어서 죽은 자들 가운데서 일어나라

그리스도께서 네게 비취시리라 하셨느니라

그런즉 너희가 어떻게 행할 것을 자세히 주의하여…세월을 아끼라 때가 악하니라” (엡 5:14~16).

The Destiny of Earth’s Teeming Multitudes is About to be Decided

We are living in the most solemn period of this world’s history. The destiny of earth’s teeming multitudes is about to be decided.

Our own future well-being and also the salvation of other souls depend upon the course which we now pursue. We need to be guided by the Spirit of truth.

Every follower of Christ should earnestly inquire: “Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do?” We need to humble ourselves before the Lord, with fasting and prayer, and to meditate much upon His word, especially upon the scenes of the judgment.

We should now seek a deep and living experience in the things of God. We have not a moment to lose. Events of vital importance are taking place around us; we are on Satan’s enchanted ground.

Sleep not, sentinels of God; the foe is lurking near, ready at any moment, should you become lax and drowsy, to spring upon you and make you his prey.

Many are deceived as to their true condition before God. They congratulate themselves upon the wrong acts which they do not commit, and forget to enumerate the good and noble deeds which God requires of them, but which they have neglected to perform. 

It is not enough that they are trees in the garden of God. They are to answer His expectation by bearing fruit. 

He holds them accountable for their failure to accomplish all the good which they could have done, through His grace strengthening them. In the books of heaven they are registered as cumberers of the ground. 

Yet the case of even this class is not utterly hopeless. With those who have slighted God’s mercy and abused His grace, the heart of long-suffering love yet pleads. “Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, ... redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:14-16.
