의지를 굴복시킴으로 얻는 힘 

그대들은 의지의 참 힘을 이해하기까지는 끊임없는 위험 중에 있을 것이다. 

그대들은 모든 것을 믿고 약속할지 모른다. 

그러나 그대들의 약속이나 믿음은

그대들이 그대들의 의지를 믿음과 행위의 편에 둘 때까지 그대들의 의지는 아무 가치도 없다.

만일 그대들이 그대들의 모든 의지력을 동원하여 믿음의 싸움을 싸운다면 승리할 것이다. 

그대들의 생각과, 그대들의 인상(印象)과, 그대들의 감정은 믿을 수 없는 것이니

그 이유는 그것들은 믿을 만하지 못하기 때문이요,

더욱이 그대들의 타락된 관념과 합하게 될 때에 더욱 그러하다. 

그리고 그대들이 약속을 어긴 것과 맹세한 것을 이행치 못해 온 것을 깨달을 때에

그것이 그대들 자신에 대한 그대들의 신임과 타인에 대한 신임을 잃게 한다.

 Strength Through Yielding the Will 

You will be in constant peril until you understand the true force of the will. 

You may believe and promise all things, but your promises or your faith are of no value until you put your will on the side of faith and action.

 

If you fight the fight of faith with all your will-power, you will conquer. 

Your feelings, your impressions, your emotions, are not to be trusted, for they are not reliable, especially with your perverted ideas; and the knowledge of your broken promises and your forfeited pledges weakens your confidence in yourself, and the faith of others in you.
