경험적 증거

“너희는 여호와의 선하심을 맛보아 알지어다 그에게 피하는 자는 복이 있도다” (시 34:8).  

모든 사람-가장 높은 교육을 받은 사람이나 가장 무식한 사람-이 다 알 수 있는 증거가 있나니

그것은 곧 경험적 증거이다. 

하나님께서는 당신의 말씀의 진실성과 그의 허락이 틀림없다는 사실을

우리 자신이 친히 시험하여 보기를 요청하신다.

그는 우리에게 “여호와의 선하심을 맛보아 알지어다” (시 34:8)라고 말씀하셨다.

우리는 다른 사람의 말을 의지하지 말고 우리 자신이 친히 맛볼 것이다.

우리가 예수께로 가까이 나아가서 그의 사랑의 충만함을 누릴 때에

우리의 의혹과 분명치 않은 점들은 그가 임재하신 데서 발하는 빛으로 사라져 버리게 될 것이다.

그리스도인은 자기가 믿는 바를 안다.

그는 성경을 읽을 뿐만 아니라 그 가르침의 능력을 경험한다.

그는 그리스도의 의에 대하여 들을 뿐만 아니라 영혼의 창문을 의의 태양 빛으로 열어놓는다...  

젊은이들은 하나님의 말씀을 마음과 영혼의 양식으로 삼아야 한다.…

그리하여 그들은 믿음을 통하여 경험적인 지식으로 하나님을 알게 될 것이다. 

그들은 그분의 말씀의 실체, 그분의 약속의 진실성을 스스로의 힘으로 입증했다.

그들은 맛을 보았다. 그러므로 여호와께서 선하시다는 사실을 그들은 안다.… 

하나님의 품성의 더욱 분명한 계시를 위하여 더 높이, 그리고 더욱더 높이 도달하는 것이 우리의 특권이다.… 그분의 빛 가운데서 우리는 정신과 마음과 영혼이 그분의 성결의 형상으로 바뀔 때까지 빛을 볼 것이다.

The Evidence of Experience

O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8.     

There is an evidence that is open to all—the most highly educated, and the most illiterate—the evidence of experience. 

God invites us to prove for ourselves the reality of His Word, the truth of His promises. He bids us “taste and see that the Lord is good.” Instead of depending upon the word of another, we are to taste for ourselves.... And as we draw near to Jesus, and rejoice in the fullness of His love, our doubt and darkness will disappear in the light of His presence.

The Christian knows in whom he has believed. He does not only read the Bible; he experiences the power of its teaching. He has not only heard of Christ’s righteousness; he has opened the windows of the soul to the light of the Sun of Righteousness...

Let the youth make the Word of God the food of mind and soul.... Thus through faith they will come to know God by an experimental knowledge. 

They have proved for themselves the reality of His Word, the truth of His promises. They have tasted, and they know that the Lord is good.... 

It is our privilege to reach higher and still higher for clearer revealings of the character of God.... In His light shall we see light, until mind and heart and soul are transformed into the image of His holiness.
