문을 닫을 수 있는 과오를 피하라

가정에서 나타난 신앙 생활의 감화는 교회와 이웃 가운데서 느껴질 것이다.

 

 

 

그러나 그리스도인이라고 공언하는 어떤 이들이

 

그들 가정의 어려운 문제에 관하여 이웃들에게 말한다.

 

그들은 동정을 사기 위하여 그런 방법으로 불평에 대한 호소를 하지만

 

우리의 어려운 문제, 특히 신앙심의 부족이나 또는 불완전한 성격 때문에 생기고 존재하는

 

많은 불만들을 다른 이들에게 들려주는 것은 큰 잘못이다. 

 

 

 

 

남에게 가서 그들의 사사로운 불평을 늘어놓는 사람들은

 

그들의 괴팍한 뜻을 하나님께 자복하며,

 

반석되신 예수님께 떨어져 깨어져, 예수께서 그들로 귀히 쓰시는 그릇이 되게 만드시도록

 

집에 머물러 기도 드리는 것이 더욱 좋을 것이다.

예의의 결여, 한 순간의 조급함, 단 한마디의 거칠고 생각 없는 말,

 

이 같은 것들이 그대들의 덕망을 손상시키고 사람들의 마음 문을 닫아서

 

다시는 그들을 감동시킬 수 없게 할 것이다.

 

 

 

가정으로 반드시 되어야 할 가정－하늘 가정의 상징－이 되도록 하려는 노력이

 

우리로 더욱 넓은 범위에서 일하도록 준비시킨다.

 

피차에 친절한 관심을 보임으로 얻은 교육은

 

우리로 참 종교의 원칙들을 배워야 할 사람들의 마음을 감동시키는 방법을 알 수 있게 한다.

 

 

 

교회는 얻을 수 있는 모든 세련된 영적인 일꾼이 필요된다.

 

그러므로 특히 주의 젊은 가족들은 조심성 있게 보호되어야 할 것이다.

 

가정 안에서 실천된 진리는 가정 밖에서 행하는 사욕 없는 활동을 통해 그 실체를 드러낸다.

 

가정에서 그리스도인의 생애를 하는 사람은 어디서나 밝고 빛나는 빛을 비출 것이다

Avoid Mistakes That May Close Doors

When religion is manifested in the home, its influence will be felt in the church and in the neighborhood. But some who profess to be Christians talk with their neighbors concerning their home difficulties. They relate their grievances in such a way as to call forth sympathy for themselves; but it is a great mistake to pour our trouble into the ears of others, especially when many of our grievances are manufactured and exist because of our irreligious life and defective character. 

Those who go forth to lay their private grievances before others might better remain at home to pray, to surrender their perverse will to God, to fall on the Rock and be broken, to die to self that Jesus may make them vessels unto honor.

 A lack of courtesy, a moment of petulance, a single rough, thoughtless word, will mar your reputation, and may close the door to hearts so that you can never reach them.

The effort to make the home what it should be—a symbol of the home in heaven—prepares us for work in a larger sphere. The education received by showing a tender regard for each other enables us to know how to reach hearts that need to be taught the principles of true religion. The church needs all the cultivated spiritual force which can be obtained, that all, and especially the younger members of the Lord’s family, may be carefully guarded. The truth lived at home makes itself felt in disinterested labor abroad. He who lives Christianity in the home will be a bright and shining light everywhere.
