인간이 두려워하므로 성령께서 슬퍼하심

 

 

믿음은 자기에게 닥치는 어려운 시험의 이유를 묻지 않고

하나님께서 하신 말씀을 액면 그대로 받아들인다.  

그러나 세상에는 믿음이 적은 자가 많다. 그들은 항상 두려워하며 사서 염려를 한다.

이러한 사람들은

매일 하나님의 사랑의 징표들로 둘러싸이고, 매일 그분의 섭리의 은택들을 만끽함에도

그들은 이런 복들을 간과한다.

그들이 만나는 어려움들은 그들을 하나님께로 나아가도록 재촉하는 대신에,

불안과 불평을 유발시킴으로써 그분에게서 그들을 분리시킨다...  

예수님은 그들의 친구이시다. 온 하늘은 그들의 행복을 바라고 있다.

그러므로 그들이 두려워하고 한탄하는 것은 성령을 슬프시게 하는 일이다.

우리는 하나님께서 우리를 들으신다는 것을 보거나 느끼기 때문에 믿어서는 안 된다.

우리는 그분의 약속을 신뢰해야 할 것이다.  

우리가 믿음으로 하나님 앞에 나아갈 때에는

모든 소원이 그리스도의 마음속에 전달된다는 것을 믿어야 한다.

주님께 복을 구한 후에 우리는 받은 줄로 믿고 받은 것을 인하여 하나님께 감사 드려야 한다.

그 후에 우리는 우리가 가장 필요할 때에 축복이 우리에게 임할 것을 확실히 믿고

직무를 수행하러 나가야 할 것이다.

이렇게 하기를 배웠을 때 우리는 우리의 기도가 응답됨을 알게 된다. 

하나님께서는 우리를 위하여 “그 영광의 풍성을 따라” 또 “그의 힘의 강력으로 역사하심을 따라” “우리의 온갖 구하는 것이나 생각하는 것에 더 넘치도록 능히 하실”(엡 3: 16, 1: 19, 3: 20) 것이다.

Fear Grieves the Holy Spirit

Faith takes God at His word, not asking to understand the meaning of the trying experiences that come. 

But there are many who have little faith. They are always fearing and borrowing trouble. Every day they are surrounded by the tokens of God’s love, every day they enjoy the bounties of His providence; but they overlook these blessings. And the difficulties they encounter, instead of driving them to God, separate them from Him, by arousing unrest and repining....

Jesus is their Friend. All heaven is interested in their welfare, and their fear and repining grieve the Holy Spirit. Not because we see or feel that God hears us are we to believe. We are to trust His promises.

When we come to Him in faith, we should believe that every petition enters into the heart of Christ. When we have asked for His blessing, we should believe that we receive it, and thank Him that we have it. Then we are to go about our duties, assured that the blessing will be sent when we need it most. 

When we have learned to do this, we shall know that our prayers are answered. God will do for us “exceeding abundantly,” “according to the riches of His glory” and “the working of His mighty power.”
